Prom... early, I know.
Permalink Closed

I always start looking for a dress for prom super early, so I can get a good deal, and I found a couple. But I need advice, so I was hoping to get some here :)

I love this dress so much, and it's finally on sale. Does this outfit seem okay for prom?

(over a dyed-brown full slip)

then a gold bangle or something?

I'm kind of attached to this dress, but if anyone has suggestions, it'd be great. Thanks!

I'm finding that proms in other places are less formal than mine. Mine was all out ball gowns. Like, something like this was really what people wore:

fyi-I didn't wear anything like that! And when I watched LB, they just wore like, day dresses. I'm guessing your prom is like that too... But yes, I think that dress will look cute for prom as long as the slip looks good with it.

I'd imagine that you'd be fine.

Where I grew up (suburban NYC), everyone wore dresses like the one jen posted. But in CA, I keep finding that shorter dresses are totally fine too. I love yours...it's very you and you'll be an individual.

You should wear something you love, anyway.

Hmm. I have mixed feelings. I really like that dress and I think it's really unique. It's really cheap right now and so you should get it and just wear it around like the model is. You could even wear a really similar outfit to what you posted, just maybe with different shoes out to dinner or something.

So because you can wear that dress so many other places, I would get a dress that is more prom-y (I don't mean prom-y like jen posted, yikes!). I totally understand the casual prom thing, I wore a knee-length dress to my prom, but I think it's fun to still wear something you otherwise couldn't.

I really like these for keeping it casualish, but still something special...

However they're all crazy expensive so I don't know.

i like it as a prom dress- i see what maddies saying (and that silver dress with the slightly longer back is soo soo awesome), but i think looking back- i wish i had just rocked a $20 vintage slip to prom. i bought a $350 dress and wore it once. prom isn't important enough to me to warrant that. my wedding, maybe. prom? not to me. if you are concerned with cost, i'd just get a fun cheap dress. a girl i know wore a $20 zebra print slip and cool jewelry. thats the spirit of the lynnie today- the lynnie of yesteryear i guess just wanted a standard prom dress (even though mine was def. not of the puffy variety! just a long dark pink floral column gown with a really pretty back) so yea, i think you could totally work that for prom.

My two cents about prom dress cost. Mine was like $300 and I haven't worn it since, but I don't regret it. This is my dress...
...but in an emerald color.
It's really classic but still cool and I have it if I ever need a dress. I don't think it'll go out of style soon. So even though I haven't worn it since, I really do like having it as an option.
