Sorority theme idea needed

Okay, so for recruitment, I'm in charge of food one night. Which idea do you like better? Either sparkling apple cider/juice and grape juice (since no alcohol is allowed) and cheese and crackers. Kinda like a wine and cheese party... Or, cookies and milk. Have skim 1%, chocolate milk and all different types of cookies. Or, if you guys have another idea, please let me know. Thanks!

Is there a theme for the round?  Like we had one round where our skits were set up like movie previews or something like that and we had movie foods, like popcorn, candies in boxes and cokes (in the cute bottles).

Either idea is cute, but one or the other may flow with the party's theme, if there is one. . .

I like the idea of sparkling apple juice.  Personally, I wouldn't do grape juice because inevitably someone will drop their glass or spill and it will stain.  Since recruitment is so stressful for girls already, I'd hate for someone to have to go to a rush event with a stained dress.

Also, I'd suggest serving the sparkling cider in a tall plastic champagne glass.  My sorority used to serve it in the shallow plastic champagne glasses and they were a pain in the ass because it's hard to walk, eat hors d'oeuvres, and shake hands without having the sparkling cider slosh over the side of the glass.  (Can you tell this was a pet peeve of mine?  )  We used to write the girls' names on a piece of paper and tie it to the glass, which was a pain in the ass too because there's always a glitch and people end up with a name that doesn't match.  So I wouldn't recommend doing that.  The payoff just isn't that great for the work involved.

The milk/cookies idea is cute, but I'd only do that on the first day of recruitment when things are less formal.  It might seem out of place as the days get more formal, unless you have some sort of theme where it ties in well.  Also--some girls might be lactose intolerant, and I doubt you'll have that problem with sparkling cider.

What's the theme for the day that you're working on?  Depending on the theme of the day, you could do really cute drinks to go along with it.  Like if you're doing some sort of beach-y theme, you could mix pineapple juice, orange juice, and pour in some grenadine to make it look like tequila sunrises.  Or coke floats if you're doing a 50's theme day (we did this and it was really cute).  We also did a movie star theme day that was more formal and that's where we served the sparkling cider.

You don't want a house full of sorority girls with gaseous stomachs!!!

Thanks girls. This is open recruitment, so it's VERY informal.  If you guys didn't have that, basically it's when my girls invite girls in their classes or whatever to come and hang out with us.  We then take in 5 girls at the end of the week. I'm coming to the events after I teach my fitness classes-so I'll be in workout clothes. I'll have to make sure to maybe have soy milk there as well.
