FP or anyone with a Hobo Int'l clutch
Permalink Closed

I'm interested in buying a Hobo International clutch and I don't know what size to get!  Nordies has two sizes available, this one:Hobo International Double-Frame Clutch and a bigger one.

The small one is 8.5 X 5.25 X 2.5 and the larger one is 10 X 6.5 X 2.

I like the small size because it could fit in a larger purse and double as a wallet, but I like the bigger one because it would definitely hold my cell phone, sunglasses, iPod, etc.  The question is:  which one do I get?  For those of you who have these, which size do you have and do you like it?  I plan on using it as an alternative for a purse during the day for work and on weekends.

The small one is $88 and the larger one is $150, maybe less, but I'm not totally sure.  Ideas?

I have the small one. I use it mostly as a wallet now, thanks to FP's suggestion, and I love it! I've also used it as a clutch for going out, and it's nice because when I am running to the grocery store, etc., after work, I don't have to lug my giant work bag around.

I guess it depends on how important it is to have the sunglasses, etc. with you on the occasions you use it. But are you sure the larger size would fit that extra stuff? I didn't spend a lot of time with the larger one, but it still seemed thin. I could probably fit my cell phone and ipod in the smaller one, but it would have to go in the center pocket and then it wouldn't close properly. Also, I find that if you "stuff" these too much, it looks lumpy on the outside. But like I said, I didn't really look at the larger one for very long.

halleybird--do your keys fit in the smaller one?

I think I'm kinda leaning toward the larger one, but I'm just not sure!  I'm also thinking I might just start with the smaller one and get the larger one later if I want

Oh!  This is agonizing!!!

I realize this isn't a clutch, but housingworks in New York has this item for auction. So far, bidding is up to $35

I have never really tried to put my keys in them, but they'd probably fit. I only have about 4 keys, though.

eta: if you haven't already, you may want to read the zappos reviews .  A lot of people mentioned what they can/can't fit in it. I can't find any reviews for the larger one, though.

Thanks halleybird!  I always forget to read the Zappos reviews.  I think the larger one is going to work better for me, but I think I'm going to check it out at Nordies again before I commit.
