It's a state holiday at work today and guess who forgot and showed up anyway? Yep, me. I suck. And my boss is here too and already saw me so now I'm stuck here for at least a few hours. Man I'm a dumbass.

If it is a holiday and you are paid to not be there, then go home!!!  Just go tell your boss what you did (if you have to) or when he asks tomorrow or next week say you had to come pick something up.  Don't spend your day at work if you don't have to!!

The only plus to staying is that I get comp time. Half a day isn't terrible after all but if I didn't come in at all, I wouldn't even have to worry about it! I'm a dumbass...

That is so something I would do. To be honest, I'd stay all day now - you are dressed & if you get comp time that is cool. I'd much rather work on the off day - I ALWAYS got more work done cause I didn't have to answer my phone or deal with customers. then take off another day when everyone else is at work! What is the holiday anyway?

Can you believe it? It's Confederate Heroes Day. Only in Texas would that day be celebrated the same week as MLK Day. Shouldn't there be a cut-off for wars we celebrate? I mean, Independence Day, fine, I get it. We're celebrating independence, freedom, etc., etc., etc. But the Civil War? I think it's time we let it rest. It was great. Good job. Now let's move on. Not that I mind the day off though...

i can't tell you how many times i've come late/early with daylight savings.  so i feel for you!  i'm running a race on the sunday of daylight savings and i'm nervous that i'm going to miss it.

You're not a dumbass.  That's totally something I'd do.


Want to hear my dumbass move of the week?  So the other day I was in the shower and I decided to shave my legs (it'd been awhile.)  So I shower shave my legs, wash my hair, etc.  No biggie, just a normal shower, right?  Then I get out of the shower and I'm drying off like I usually do--one foot on the counter top to dry off that leg, then I switch, putting the other foot up to dry that leg.  Well, I look down and the second leg is still totally hairy. 


I shaved one leg, but not the other.    At that point I was mostly dry and I just figured I wouldn't wear a skirt because I was too lazy to get back in the shower and shave the other leg.  I'm an idiot.

one time i missed an exam b/c of daylight savings time.  the teacher didn't believe me and i had to beg to be allowed to take the damn exam.

seriously, confederate heroes? and you get the day off... well, comp time is actually better because it's a holiday on your own terms...
