The way he capitalized FURNITURE makes it seem like it's a form letter. I mean all the rest of it is pretty generic and could be used for ELECTRONICS or COMPUTER, etc.
This is exactly what it is going on. They just did a story on our local new a few days ago. The lady on the story figured it out because she had put in an advertisement for puppies and the form letter referred to them as "cargo" and "items for sale". The guy who sent her the email forgot to change that part of the form letter.
Good thing you smelled fish before anything else happened!

Tara This guy is doing a variation on the infamous Nigerian scam.
Check out this site to learn about it http://www.bustedupcowgirl.com/scampage.html The site describes the same scam except the scammer targets people selling horses. I would also suggest you call the police so the bastard can be caught.
Tara, I'm so glad you posted about this. I hadn't heard about this scam and this thread has been very enlightening. I'm glad you didn't fall for it. ITA w/ whoever suggested that you should report him to the police!
I always ignore people who reply to my ads if they don't speak proper English. That may be discriminatory, but I certainly don't want to be held responsible if I misunderstand something. Plus it just weirds me out for some reason. So glad you thought it was strange enough to ask us about it! Weird!
Total scam. I work in a bank and see this all of the time. Any time they ask for the difference back or for you to cover the shipping out of the check....Scam.
