this might sound like a dumb question, but how do I keep my hair from getting flat at the top? Like, in the morning I fix it and it looks all pretty, but 1/2 hour later it looks like its plastered to my scalp. From my ears down there's tons of body, but how do I keep it "up" on top?

This may be a dumb response, but have you ever tried flipping your head upside down while you dry it. I do this and it give my roots a lot of lift.

You could try the root lifting spray.  I had some once.  I think the brand was Big Sexy Hair os something like that.  It was a mousse (sp?) that you just put on  your roots.

i actually wonder about this myself ---

remember when we used to actually like flat hair?

well, maybe i was the only one, but when i was in highschool i wanted super straight hair flat to my head and parted in the middle *gag*

my best friend and i used to have  saying "greasy = beautiful!" b/c we always thought our greasy flat hair looked great!

anyway, nowadays, i wonder how i can get lift :(

can't seem to make mine stay either - and the "root boost" i've used has never worked.

ILoveChoo - has it gotten flatter since you colored it?

I dont think so... it's always been something that's bothered me but now that I'm not completely in love with the color its bugging me more. I feel like with such a blah color, the style needs a little more oomph.

garnier fructis has this root lifting spray gel that works so good.  i bought it and used it and put a generous amount on my roots thinking it would be like other things i tried.  i was so wrong.  i looked like peggy bundy after blowdrying my hair upside down.  and i couldn't get it to go down at all.  i finally had to re-wash my hair and start over with much less product.  so maybe you should give it a try.   i use the mousse that goes with it as well and that works rediculously well too.

I have heard great things about the Kerastase volumizing product. If I get a chance to get the exact product name, I'll post it here.

hmmm...ok, I'll try one of the root things. Will that work when I don't dry my hair too? I only wash it every other day...

I got a volumizing mousse by Redken the other day that you spray at your roots and it works great.  If you put that stuff in at the roots (or something like it) and blow dry your hair upside down you'll probably get some good volume.

Also, you could get a purse sized hair spray so you can touch it up once you get to work or wherever you're going.

make sure when you condition, you only condition towards the ends.. you could be weighing down your hair at the roots.
