Help! My 1st Relationship Post.....

I'm too pissed off at Joe right now, I just need some EARS, and yall are the next ones! LOL Girls - he calls me up last night, on my way home and says, "I'm broke", and I'm like, what have you done now? He's gone out and brought ANOTHER project car, a 70something VW Bug for $400.00 (has some elec. problems, but he can fix them, but THAT'S beside the point!), MIND YOU we do NOT have any groceries, but he goes out and does this CRAP!!! I was fit to be tied last night, didn't speak to him at all, I can't believe him!!! What IF we had a family, and he did this, is his HOBBY more important than food in the house/on the table?! I told him I wasn't gonna be able to help him out (for money), I don't get paid again until Feb. 1st, so........ Oh well. I have money, but hell, I don't go out and spend $400.00 a day either. And neither does he, but this damn car could've waited, sorry. And you see why's I'm NOT in a hurry to marry. He went on and on saying it's an investment, how after he fixes it up, he'll resell it for $1500.00, etc. SO WHAT?! I see his hobbies are more important than food in the house; and he was just saying on Monday how he needed to buy groceries, and boom - he goes off (the next day) and does this. Ugh. Sorry for my ranting. Yes, he could be out doing OTHER things, like out on the streets, so........ I could take that into consideration, but still. Just URKS me.

Clearly not ok. And it irks you because of the implications: that he is not someone "safe" that you have to keep an eye on him, that he thinks less of the household than he does of his fun. So many fights about the toys aren't really about the toys. Is this a one-time thing? Or does he do other things like this?

Thanks for responding, Dizzy. And NOPE, this is NOT the 1st time he's done this, but USUALLY he'll consult me before making a HUGE (it's huge to me, over $100.00) investment. He just went out and DID IT, then calls me, say's he's broke, AFTER the damage is done. He gets paid bi-weekly, so I guess he thinks it was OK for him to do this. I don't, since we have no food (or very little) in the house. I'll just feed myself before I get home, and IF he calls and asks what's for dinner  - "I don't know, we don't have any food". NOW! LOL

kaykay - No, he will (after he picks it up today) have THREE project cars at home, all of them VW Bugs, older models. And NO - he's tried to sell the last two, but no one's buying; they're interested, but they think he's asking too much, so...... NOPE, no money ever made off of them. And he just calls, saying I can stay upset w/him, etc. etc., that he talked to his Mom about it last night, and EVEN SHE AGREED that he should've consulted me first, but she also thinks it's a good investment, if he can resell it, so..... I guess.

Well mom is no help and since he has other cars and he can't sell that should be a clue- hello. Well Iam not for sure what to say because I never experience this , after you calmed down just talk to him and let him know how you really feel, that this hurt you because you feel he is putting this hobby before you and other needs like food etc...

Ugh! How annoying! I'd be pissed as hell, too. He deserves your anger - and to be hungry!

As for getting married, maybe if y'all combined incomes, you could have a joint account where he immediately deposits some of his money into when he gets paid and then he can do whatever he wants with what's left. That way if he decides to blow all his money, y'all can still get to the grocery store!

Let's see... it's Wednesday... I'm sure there's some special out there somewhere. For future reference, Santa Rita has 2 for 1 fajitas on Monday nights, Huts has 2 for 1 burgers on Tuesday night (I think), and Mr. Gatti's always has a $5.99 pizza take out special. (These are places I resort to when people suggest going out to eat and I don't have any $$$!)
