for the first time ever i got pulled over last night and the stupid policeman gave me a ticket :( it was superlate, after midnight, i was on olympic blvd heading west and i didn't see the no left turn sign and i made a left on century park east and i got pulled over and he gave me a ticket
i'm so depressed!!!!! and the worst part is i got a camera ticket for running a red light on july 4 weekend so i can't even go to traffic school
you guys is there anything at all i can do?
oh and the other worst part is i don't know how much the ticket will cost so chances are i can't even get the shoes i've been lusting after all week. i know i sound like a big baby but i feel like crying i really wanted those shoes!
I would fight the ticket. I fight any ticket I receive, and it usually results in reduced fine and no points. If the officer doesn't show up, the ticket is cancelled. At least that's how it works in Michigan...

I'd fight the ticket too. I got my first speeding ticket last year and fought it - I got the fine cut in half, and they marked down the violation as well - writing down that I was going 45 in a 35 rather than 57 in a 35, which they had really clocked me at. Therefore, my insurance didn't go up when I got my new premium last month - it actually went down - because the speeding ticket wasn't so severe.
Sorry to hear about the ticket, I know they suck. *hugs*
thanks guys, you both gave me hope in different ways. i knew i could count on you! and i am going to fight that ticket and if that doesn't work i will throw myself on the mercy of the court and beg for traffic school. anything for my shoes!!
ETA: christine i think we posted at exactly the same time, thanks for your story, wish me luck!

Oh that sucks!!! I know my friend went to traffic school twice in a few months because it was a new calendar year. Maybe your state does it that way too? big hugs sweetie - and even if you cant' get out of the ticket, the shoes aren't out of your life completely, just delayed a little bit...
Fight it! I know tons of people who've gotten more than one ticket in one calendar year and they fought it and got to take defensive driving multiple times. Worse case scenario is you have to pay the ticket, right? You already have to pay the ticket so no risk there. Go for it - I'm sure your excellent lawyering skills will help you out. (Or you can get some friend at the firm to make an eloquent speech, right? )
I feel so sad for you. You'll get your shoes. If you fight the ticket and don't have to pay, they're yours now. If that doesn't work out, they'll go on sale and you'll get them for less (like FP said). Let us know how it goes! You need those shoes one way or another
I feel your pain. I my last ticket I had to pay and it wasn't fun. I didn't have anyone to help me get out of it either.
Now esquiress... do you mean to tell me you don't have any lawyer or cop friends in LA that can help you out of this? I would think you of all people might have a chance at this.

lol, this made me smile, thanks for the vote of confidence lsu. anyway, all my lawyer friends told me to fight it and one of them offered to "testify" or whatever saying he's never seen the sign either, the lamp on that corner's been burnt out, etc., etc. so we'll see. oh and this other guy told me that i should've shown the cop my bar card because supposedly then i wouldn't have gotten a ticket, which makes very little sense to me, but whatever. all i know is i'm now the most super-cautious driver ever!
