Any weekend non-shopper? Check in?

All I got this weekend was a book about the Dalai Lama from Chapters Indigo but I had a GC so I did not spend any of my own money.  An Open Heart- Practicing Compassion in Everyday life

An Open Heart

And I was so proud of myself- I wandered around Chapters for an hour without getting some Starbucks! I am feeling really good about cutting back. I think I can do it.

I just got back from the mall and I didn't buy anything!!!  I'm so proud of myself!  I got a skim chai and some madeline cookies w/ my Starbucks gc, so I didn't spend a penny.

I almost got a blazer at the Gap for $16, but I thought about the shame of having to post about an impulse buy.  Plus, I'm getting my hair cut today, so I want some $ for that.

I think I'm going to have to break down and get some of those Delias thermals online though.  I have so few l/s shirts, it's not even funny.  They didn't have them at the mall, so I'm going to have to pay shipping.  Boo!  Hiss!

Hi girls.  I bought 2 tank top undershirt thingys from White & Black which were my final pre-ban ok'd items to buy.  Then I went to Walmart and got a few things but used my gift cards so that didn't cost me anything which was nice.

I'm doing pretty good.  Its just hard to not shop.  I am going to send in my first couch payment to make myself feel better about not shopping tomorrow so that way I can feel like I've already accomplished something.

I actually went out shopping today with the intent of buying something.  I didn't buy anything tho, and I'm so friggin proud of myself.  There was a ton of good stuff on sale at UO, but I kept thinking about the ban.  I'm seriously concerned that we might have layoffs at work soon, and that I could be one to go.  I kept thinking how mad I would be at myself if I bought stuff I didn't really need and then got layed off a few months from now.

I did make one purchase, a blazer for $46 at BR. I really needed it though and wore it to an art museum the next day so I don't feel too bad about it.

I'm definitely staying on the ban. I just need to find a cute white sweater and not buy anything else when shopping for it...

I am joining the ban a little late , but this weekend I bought nothing but absolute necessities. Tide, MrClean, etc, and food(no fancy pestos or anything!) Today I went to the biiiiggg magazine store(big weakness) and bought nothing!! Wow. So I am feeling quite virtuous. And oddly, I don't feel deprived! And big pat on the back to everyone else!

PS Brazen, have you started the book yet? How is it?

Household stuff only. DH and I went and did a mini-blitz of stuff. But no clothes (though I'm not on a ban). I did some looking with DH on Saturday, but asking myself, "Do I LOVE it?" has really helped. I only want things in my closet that I love, not that I'm settling for because I can't afford or can't find what I really love. So I am scaling back and waiting for the things I really, really want.

And when I feel the urge, I remember what Simon Doonan said: "Longing for things is a lost art". *s*

Congratulations, Bex!!

Everyone is doing so well. I was really tempted by a pair of Kors shoes, but I was good. However, I do have to admit that I tried really, really hard to talk my DH into buying them for me (we have joint accounts but also keep separate spending money) but he wouldn't cave

I haven't bought anything in almost three weeks. Yay! I usually break much, much sooner. I think that after I buy the bag I'm saving for I'm going to stay on the ban so that I can save money to buy new clothes this summer, after I've had the baby and taken off the weight. Having tons of money to spend on cute new things will definitely motivate me to get back in shape.

The only reasons I was good this weekend were because J. Crew's website was out of tank tops in my size in the colors I wanted and I was too lazy to get in the car and drive to the store.  I am weak.    But I didn't buy anything!

I did bad I bought 2 pair of shoes & a bra from Mervyns since they are closing. And I spent $10 at garage / estate sales this weekend. But that isn't rule breaking! The shoes were though.

I have been doing great so far, and I am SOOOOO proud of myself. Of course I have done shopping with gift cards, so maybe that's why I've been able to alst so long??

I bought two pairs of cheapo F21 earrings last weekend with the last of my gift card money.

I also bought a car, but that couldn't be helped. My old one died.

I did pretty good until yesterday.   I had to return a $240 ring I bought myself for Xmas that my hubby made me return (He said he would buy me a better one :wink)  After I returned it I stopped by the clothing dept. and picked up 2 skirts & a cardi.  But I don't think that counts since I used the $$ from the ring I purchased a month ago, so technically its money spent in 2005

I'm on the ban! Of course, I've been on the ban for most of 2005 but whatever. I'm saving my xmas gift cards for spring so I can get new summer clothing (TX is hot so there's no sense in buying a lot of winter items).

I treated the boy to lunch, went out to dinner with a friend, and saw a movie. But no shopping!! It's all very exciting.

Ditto here .  I'm trying to focus my shopping on wedding-related items for now to keep me satiated.
