my bf and i met at a small restaurant in chicago, so we usually go there.  he thinks it's a very commercial holiday (i kinda agree, but i also kinda hope for one of the kay jeweler's commercials where the guy shows up with an amazing diamond bracelet or something ).  so i usually buy him a card or sometimes i make him one, and this year i recently found the note i left him when i first met him with my phone number on it, so i'm going to have it framed so it doesn't get lost.  there's a perfect spot for it above the bedroom end table.

I doubt we go out or get gifts - but I expect a ridiculous sappy card & get him one as well. We'll probably do lobster or king crab legs at home. (our fall back fancy meals that don't fit in the everyday grocery budget)

I'm almost glad Joe's NOT FLASHY like that, but I usually get him two bags of those little hard heart candies w/the little sayings on them, he eats them right up, a card, of course, and we MAY go out to dinner, usually before the actual day, since restaurants are JAM PACKED! And on that day, cook dinner at home.

The boy and I just talked about it last night actually, so funny you should bring it up. We decided that neither of us are big VDay celebraters so we'll do something small at home. For a gift we said we'd limit the budget to $20 and we each go pick out something (together) that the other one could buy us. (For me, I'll probably hit up the bookstore and for him, he'll probably pick out a dvd.)

I have no idea what to get hubby for v-day.  I think he was let down last year when I didn't get him anything.  Do you think it's silly to get a guy flowers?  He doesn't like cheesy v-day gifts, so things like boxers w/ hearts on them are right out (unfortunately!).  My options right now are flowers, if it isn't too silly, or some nice pate or other gourmet foodstuff that he'd like.

My b/f also thinks it is too commericalize. So normally we go out to dinner, but not on that day b/c it is to crowded. We normally go a couple days before or after. Also we have a $20 gift limit. We normally get each other gifts that have a meaning. Like this year I got him a picture frame for these postcards that he got when we went to colorado last year. He wanted to frame them (they look antiquish) but he never got around to it.

We usually stay pretty low-key, cosidering our anniversary is 2/20. This year, I'm going to make a super duper cheesetastic Valentine for him, and we'll probably grab dinner at a nice reataurant. Who knows what'll happen next ?

we get each other a massage at the spa and go out to dinner at a fancy place.  we usually go out to a fancy place once a month anyway, so we just make it for valentines day in feb!

I pretty much think Valentine's Day is a girl's holiday.  Here are some ideas from the past.

- Had a basked full of candies and gift certificates to a bunch of different places (they were like $5 and $10 ones).  Tied 14 pink, red, and white balloons to the basket with confetti in them.  I wanted to put the gift certificates in them and him have to pop them and confetti fall everywhere, but they were too heavy.

- Made a plate full of sandwich cookies in the shape of hearts (was a big deal because I don't cook).

- Made a cookie bouquet myself.  I wrote on them and put designs in them.  I put them in a heart basket with foam in it.  I tied it up with red cylaphane (how do you spell that word??) and huge pink bow with red hearts.

Sooo I have a history of being really creative and I need an idea for this year.  A little background so maybe you girls can help me.  He travels 100% of the time and has basically everything he could ever want.  I thought about decoupaging a pic frame and putting a pic of us in it.  I like that but I need something else.  I could do the gift certificate thing since that was a different boyfriend.  The cookie bouquet was him.

We don't usually do too much for V-day either.  We treat each other well all year, so it seems silly to celebrate Feb. 14th just cuz everyone says we have to.  Plus, December and January are Christmas, our anniversary, New Years, and my b-day, so by the time February rolls around, we're pretty much broke and burnt out.

We'll probably get each other cards and cook something nice at home and maybe do some small gift thing.
