tile everywhere or hardwood floors?

yes, if you look in General Chat i posted my dog and you see my tile there, its everywhere except my 2 living rooms and all upstairs. im going to get that tile redone also, maybe go with a different color and go bigger.

Okay, just wanted to make sure! I currently have tile and think it's a bitch, but if your experience has been better then more power to 'ya!

It's hard to say without seeing your actual house - my parents just went through this decision. They wanted to do tile in the kitchen and entryway, and wood everywhere else, but their space is sort of small and I pointed out that a continuous material on the floor would make it feel bigger, whereas different flooring could make it feel choppy.

Depends on the size of your space and how open the layout is though if that would be true for you though .

i dont mind having tile, ive never owned/had harwood floor. and my downstairs is pretty small i think. so im pretty sure i want to go with one thing now that you bring a good point up!

I would do tile. I've heard hardwood floors can get damaged by dogs, but you know the tile would definitely hold up.

I have hardwood (I think they're oak) and they are beautiful. The dogs' nails do scratch it, though, but not really visibly -- they're the superficial kind that you have to catch at the right angle in the sunlight to see. I actually like the scratches, because they make the house feel more lived-in and authentic. But if that bothers you, definitely do tile. I wouldn't give up my hardwood for anything, though.

Oh, and if you do get wood, get the hardest version you can. Some woods are softer and show scratches more easily (my mom had maple floors she had to get rid of).

i have both. tile in my entryway and kitchen, and hardwood in the rest of the first floor.

i thought about doing hardwood everywhere, but i love how the tile looks in the entryway. it makes the space so much more open, and (imo) is easier to clean. (well not per se, but i only have to mop the tile or swiff it, and on the hardwood i have a hardwood vac)
