Oh Tati, she is precious! how is the training going? Is she teething yet? I hate when they lose their puppy teeth. They grow up so fast...*sigh* And, to be off topic, I think we have the same trash can and fridge.
the training is okay, so much work! she knows "sit" and pretty much knows "stay" and for sure knows "NO" and "off". i took her to the park yesterday for the first time since she hasn't had all her shots yet till the end of this month, and she did pretty good. I think she needs a choke chain, but i'll feel bad for her! do you use one????
she still has her puppy teeth, but yup, i know shes teething. the vet didn't want to give her her rabies shot yet because of that.
relrel- i never thought of asking the vet about her size.... but her dad is HUGE, didn't see her mom in person, only pictures of her.
Oh Tati-she is too darling! I can't believe how big she is already!! What does she weigh? How old was she when you got her? ya know, i have no idea how much she weighs
Love her!!!!!!! Also, my dog, Jake (see avatar), is 7 and he's worn a choke chain his whole life and it's never hurt him. I think they're ok and they teach the dog not to pull so much, which is good.

I do, and I have mixed feelings about it. It was actually recommended to us by our first dog trainer (who was a former police-dog trainer). Halley was very skinny as a puppy, and also insanely strong -- she was all muscle. Anyway, once she literally broke a collar (the kind that snap shut with plastic) and ran directly into oncoming traffic during a walk on a busy street. She was very nearly killed. The second time, she managed to slip out of a collar and again ran into traffic. I decided I would do whatever it takes to keep her on the leash, so we got a choke chain.
My current trainer would be horrified if she knew, but I am just too afraid to not use it, and Halley is just too strong for me otherwise. I think a lot of it is just usage -- don't ever, ever use it as punishment, only correction. Don't get the spiked ones, obviously. And be careful that the dog is able to breathe, and that it isn't tight on her neck for long periods of time, which can cause damage.
Also, I started buying this style, and I like it a lot better than the regular choke chains, and IMO serves the same purpose, especially for a puppy. HTH!
