So, the Nina shoes I got on Ebay for my wedding aren't going to work. They are just not wide enough. I'm trying really hard to be good and buy a pair of shoes that I can wear after the wedding too, or at least not spend too much either way, and it's just. not. working.
I'm tired of shopping for these godforsaken shoes! BAH!
What should I do? I could technically wait a little bit longer, but I need to get my alterations going in the next couple of months and I need to know what heel height I'll be wearing by then. Should I just buy my 'fall back' shoes? They are pretty and wide enough and made well, but $110 of shoealiciousness that I'd never be able to wear again. Or should I keep looking until I run out of time, and buy my fall back shoes if I never find anything else? I thought the holiday party season would bring a few more styles to choose from, but noooooo.....
Here's the fall back shoes:

Are those shoes satin? Possibly dye-able? Maybe you could have them dyed black (or navy, or red or whatever) after the wedding and use them for holiday parties or something...
I'm sorry you're having such trouble! I hope you can find a solution soon.

Nope, unfortunately not dyeable .

Is there nothing else from Nina specifically that would work for you and maybe work later? When I used to sell shoes, I know Nina ran pretty wide...have you checked their web site?

I have checked their website and there is another pair I could try, but I'd feel like a glutton for punishment given that I already tried a pair of Nina shoes and they didn't work. I'm afraid I'd end up with another pair of uncomfortable shoes and have to foot the return shipping costs .
Please do NOT let me be one of those people who forfeits and wears flips flops to their wedding ... (not that there's anything wrong with that I just don't want to do it!)
Or, ya know, I could stop being such a whiner ...
ETA: ATLGIRL, since you have experience with Nina shoes, did you ever find that they stretched with wear at all? The front strap on mine is thisclose to working, and if they could possibly stretch then maybe I'll hold out hope ...

Ergh...if it's "all man made" materials, it's not going to stretch. If it's fabric of some kind, then it probably can - if it's a fabric you'll have to be careful, but you could try misting it lightly with water and putting a shoe stretcher (see below) in it for a bit to see if it gives enough for you. You can start by gently stretching it and keep increasing the stretch until it feels right. I'd try this a good bit before the wedding though, so that you know it will stay stretched and not pinch.
Remember that you'll be wearing them all day, so make sure that they can stretch enough to be comfortable for you. Otherwise I'd suggest looking at something else to wear - no one's wedding day should include sore feet. *s*

I have used that shoe stretch before because I too have wide feet, it worked. Now a last resort could be payless because they carry wide shoes, you could get a dyeable pair and get them dyed silver if they don't have any silver shoes.
Poor Elle! You had your heart set on those shoes, too!
I wore these Nina shoes for my wedding, and I found them really comfortable. I don't have wide feet exactly, but I do have wide toes (I have duck feet, LOL). I got the silver, and I have worn them since my wedding.
Zappos is sold out, but Nordstrom or another dept. store may have them.
ETA: can I also say that I am a dork and am really excited for you to get married? You have been planning for so long, and I am so happy for you!

Thanks girls, you all are so sweet to put up with my 287th wedding shoes post . Since we've been engaged for, oh, 3.5 years now, I'm just ready for it to get here already! I promise to post lots and lots of pics afterwards so you ladies can see the product of your replies to all of my redundant posts .
I'd really rather not resort to dyeables, so if it gets that far I'll just order my back up shoes. I would probably have really good luck selling them on ebay after the fact because I NEVER see any on there, so no competition . It was really suprising to try them on after being so used to wearing cheap(er) shoes - they were totally wide enough and long enough, which I hear alot of higher-end shoes are ('cept for certain European brands ). Very refreshing after attempting to fit my feet into teeny tiny strappy sandals, forever it seems.
You know how when you look for something for a really long time, you start to develop an impossible criteria? That's how I feel now! There are so many things that the shoes can't be or have (slingbacks, skinny front straps, more than a 3.5 inch heel, less than a 2.5 inch heel, too narrow, chunky heel, etc) and every shoe that would possibly work for a wedding has at least one of these strikes against it it. I really want them to be non blister-inducing, and nice to look at that's all, but I'm finding that it's rather hard to come by ...
Ah, well. Them's the breaks I guess. I'll keep looking for now .

Buy the expensive ones, it is your wedding and you deserve it. I totally understand about setting the impossible limits...I too have gone bridal crazy. I think that you should be really happy on your wedding day and not have shoes that you aren't totally in love with. They aren't $400, so buy them! HTH!

Enabler! Enabler!
Thank you for pointing out that this is bridal craziness - it definitely is. Must be my inner Bridezilla manifesting in ways that only drive me (well, and you ) right to the edge.
Calling now to place my order ....

Good I think you will be much happier in the long run. I to am a huge bargain shopper, but I decided that when it comes to this wedding...I am buying a new dress full price for the RHD, something that just came out because I never do this and I will feel a little more special in it! So here is to the craziness...
Just placed my order via Pearl's Place in LA - $100 . They should be here in 4 wks or so.
BTW, has anyone ever ordered from them before? They are supposed to be very good from what I've heard. It was just really different - you have to place an order over the phone, and instead of giving you an order number or anything they just mail you a receipt . I don't think I've ever placed an order over the phone before in my life!
We shall see!

I think you should be fine, I have heard many good things with them over on the knot! You will be so much happier you did! Think of all the cute pics you can get with your designer shoes now!
get tennies. i wore red heels under my wedding dress until after my pics were done and then i changed into a pair of red low top converse chucks. to this day that is the one thing my great gramma allways talks about from my wedding were my red tennies. that way you can get shoes and even if they hurt a little, or alot, you won't be wearing them all night anyway.
I bet you looked so cute in your tennies Tashina !
Tennies aren't really my style though. And I'm really short, so if I took off my heels my dress would be 3.5 inches too long and I'd be, well, really short! I would rather suffer through the pain and keep my shoes on honestly, but I'd rather not have to suffer at all if I can help it. The shoes I ended up ordering (the ones in my original post) are very comfortable, so hopefully it will all be a moot point .
