her publicist is deflecting attention away from the drug story by making sure that the bulimia story stays first and foremost in the public eye.  fanning the smoke in one direction to distract everyone from a more damaging item is PR 101.

I read the interview. Her mom sounds like she's part of the problem. She was dismissive of any concerns about her daughter partying too much or being too thin.

It's so funny that she's trying to retract her statements. I mean, it's already out there. I wonder if her PR person was freaking out because now she's probably not going to be the studio's first choice for more family friendly fare. I guess her arch-nemisis the Duffster has the last laugh on that one.


What's even funnier is that Vanity Fair knew she was going to freak about the article. Why else would she have to buy her own copy at a newsstand rather than being sent one :

I don't know why she is trying to detract her statements now. It wasn't like anyone with common since couldn't figure out she had an eating disorder and more than likely was doing drugs anyway.

i'm actually with lohan on this one. she said she was "making herself sick" which could mean a variety of things. when i first read the article i definitely didn't take it as literally as the writer did. he/she took that statement & ran with it.
