Scattergories and scrabble(sorry) are the only board games we have. I have been searching for Upwords and Pokeno and can't find them anywhere, I always played them as a kid.
I like Life - we got the Simpson's version & it's a hoot. What about Hungry Hungry Hippos? Or Mouse Trap? Jenga is fun but I don't have that one. And I love Pictionary but you need lots of people to make it really really fun.
You know what else is fun but not really a board game? Spirograph! How long has it been since you've done a spirograph? I found one at a yard sale for like $0.50 & I was going to sell it on ebay but I like it too much. Sorry for the tangent, but just wanted to share.
ETA: wicked - check ebay - I just found a bunch for not too bad prices! HTH

Hey, thanks laken1
I have this REALLY bad habit of not thinking to check for stuff online, even when i'm online. Also, holy blast from the past when you mentioned Spirograph.
Boggle is my all-time favorite. Oh, and Life is fun too, as Laken mentioned. Dirty Minds can be fun to play with the right people. My sister has Scene It (there are a lot of versions -- she has the Disney one) and says it's cool.
As for vintage games:
Chutes & Ladders
Barbie Dream Date (hilarious)
Ghostbusters -- does anyone remember this board game? It's a late-80s exclusive, I think.

I think you're thinking of Trivial Pursuit. They have a "pop culture" edition that looks fun. Also, I love Catch Phrase, & Cranium is also good. There is also one called Scene It that looks promising. HTH some!
parcheesi is really fun but my favorite to play is rumikube (sp?). it's virtually impossible to play without more than two people. it's sorta like gin rummy (the card game) and is played with suits/colors and numbers but is played with tiles (like dominoes) and you get to move around tiles and resort the pairs and runs of numbers. it's great fun.
incidentally, my bf and i have been together for three years and ive only beaten him at games three times, once at scrabble, parcheesi, and life each. i just can't win. and it's strange with the scrabble, how does the non reader beat the voracious reader at scrabble??? course, i whip his butt at boggle but we don't play that anymore after he figured out that he couldn't win ever at that.

I LOVE Clue. I think we had the original and then an expanded version that had more rooms or something. It could have been called Master Detective. We mainly had education board games when I was little so I don't really have any other fun suggestions.
heehee - clue was always my favorite too. i recently downloaded it onto my cell phone and i play all the time while i'm in the car (as a passenger!).
besides clue, life and trivial pursuit were at the top of my list. and go to the head of the class (i'm such a nerd). it was my father's, so it was old when i had it. no idea if they still make it.

A couple years ago a couple that are family friends of ours (she was my high school journalism teacher and now is like a mom to me) got me hooked on Mexican Train Dominoes.
I asked for a set for Christmas and now our whole family is hooked on the game!!
It's a lot of fun, good for up to 8 people and is very interactive.
