help me wear these

I bought these a few weeks ago at Anthro. They look great with a beater and flip-flops, but I need help working them into my work wardrobe. They are more slouchy/baggy than I usually wear, which is what I wanted. Sorry these aren't the best pics, and my mirror is dirty

ack! those pants look great on you! ive actually been debating on them, they are so perfectly slouchy. lets see what we can do with them....

from anthro:

nacreous teejuno draped topwise old shirtsundew crewneck

belvedere palace turtleneckpepperbush blouseruffled spring blouseklara scoopneck

mariel topcurly turtleneck

so from the shirts above, you might assume that your options are wide open...well, they are!! those pants, imo, are extremely versatile colorwise. just be careful to stay pretty fitted on the top to balance it out. and heels definitely, kitten or taller, because they tend to drag which doesn't work so well with work outfits. it's cool, and i actually love dragging pants with flip flops, but not in an work environment. hope that helps a little!

I bought those pants too - loved them at first glance, and then picked them up when they went on sale.

I plan to wear them with a camel v-neck and red shoes (though I haven't actually tried the outfit on). I also like the ivory cowl - neck that relrel posted. I have a pale green sleeveless top - similar in feel but not look to the fifth one relrel posted, and plan to work that in as well. Unlike you though, halleybird, I have a few months before I'll be running around in sleeveless tops!

I think gray would look good with those too. I love the olive color and the shape of those pants! I can't wait for an opportunity to wear mine!

Those pants are gorgeous halleybird!!!  Love them!

I think you want to keep the top half somewhat form fitting.  Anything slouchy on top will just end up looking messy, IMO.  I love the ivory cowl neck that relrel posted.  I think it would look cute with a chunky silver necklace or bracelet.

Also, a beater tank with one of those really long strands of pearls doubled up and knotted would look cute as well.  I remember seeing a look like that in Lucky within the last year and it was beautiful.  I'll see if I can dig up the picture and find a way to post it.

I have almost the same pair, and so far my favorite outfits have included motorcycle-style jackets. I have one in corduroy and one in a khaki wool. The cut works really well. I agree with the other girls, the top has to be very fitted, and it's hard to get the shoe right, too. Some shoes get overwhelmed by all that fabric, and others just somehow look sloppy. Clogs are usually good, or very pointy flats (if you don't mind the bottom dragging a bit - I don't but I bought them on sale so I dont' care if they last six years).

I think that to make them "work for work" you should definately wear them with pointy toe shoes (probably heels, because the dragging will look too casual I would think, as you are a teacher, right?) with any of the shirts that relrel posted. They look great on you, so I'm sure whatever you put together will look lovely!

thanks guys, that helps a lot. I will have to play around in my closet to find some tops that will work. I can't wear anything remotely tight to work (teenagers, bleh) but I do have an ivory cowl-neck that looks just like the one relrel posted. It's formfitting but not tight. I also have some dressy tees that might work. Thanks again!

On another note, I totally love this

wise old shirt
