Well, since I'm not a big fan of following rules or doing what you're supposed to do, I say do whatever the heck you want! Those rings are beautiful, and if you love them than that's all that matters.

You could always get a ring with a diamond center stone and gemstones as sidestones. When we were shopping for my wedding band, they had a ton of those with gemstones instead of diamonds, too.

Who cares what people think? The most important thing is that you love it. Plus, gemstone rings can be just as expensive as diamond rings.

I have an sapphire ring. I get TONS of compliments on it, and many people say it is really cool that it is not so traditional. I'm pretty untraditional tho. I wear a ring on my ring finger everyday, but it isn't always my engagement/wedding ring. I can't stand the idea of wearing the same ring everyday. It's too much fun to switch things up.

I loved this one. When I thought I was going to marry my now ex I had picked out a similar ring. it was a round diamond with 2 heart shaped saphires. it was beautiful. I'm a fan of color and something besides diamonds too so I say go with what you like. You are the one that will be wearing it forever.

My e-ring is a diamond in the center with saphires on both sides. I love it but honestly I would have rather had a saphire or ruby center stone. It's so much more unique.

My good friend has an engagement ring that is a large center diamond with sapphire on either side. It's really beautiful. Her wedding band is simple with just gold and sapphire. It is one of the most gorgeous, unique sets I have ever seen. I love the combination of the two.

I am DROOLING over all the saphires!!! My ring is a princess cut diamond with 2 princess cut saphires on the sides. I love it!! I had never even considered it, but when DH and I started looking, it was stunning and that's what he ended up having made for me. I get SO many compliments. I even think the one with the saphire as the main stone is gorgeous!! I say go for it! This is like mine but with all princess cut stones.
