lilykind, did you weigh yourself? is there any chance that maybe your scale is off, and you weigh less than you think you do?  or perhaps the body fat percentage is off? because if your body fat percentage is really 29%, that is kind of in the upper range of being healthy for a young female.  i am thinking that you don't really weigh 143 if your body fat is 29%, or your body fat is lower than that if you really weigh 143--one or the other of those measurements has to be off.

I find this whole thread completely fascinating.

I think it is so hard to compare sizes.  Everyone's frame and build is so different.  I'm 5'2" and weigh about 104.  I'm petite/small boned.  I think it is funny, you can find those height/weight charts that say if you are this tall you should weigh this much....that is just ridiculous!

There's actually an article on this subject in the Feb. Glamour - it starts with a picture of 5 women who all weigh the same amount but vary in height and build.  They looked so different!

I was thinking the same thing, maybe one or the other is off, cuz 29% body fat % seems high.

this thread is fascinating!  i wasn't going to post b/c i didn't want to share my weight/height etc.  but i think it is so strange the way everyone's body is different.  i am a solid 6/M in pants and a 4/S on top and i am 5'3 and weigh 130.  ALL of my weight/junk is in my trunk and my upper thighs (thanks mom- for pushing me to be a cheerleader!)

I got measured at the gym where they used the callipers for body fat and a doctor's scale. The measurements were taken at the same time. A month before I was 146 at the doctor's office but they didn't have the callipers so I couldn't get my body fat measured.

As a rule, I never weigh myself because when I was younger I grew so attached to the scale and hanging on every number that it was unhealthy.

hmm...those calipers are pretty notoriously inaccurate.  i think i'd want to get it tested again if i were you.  i think your % is lower than that.

Is body fat the same as BMI? Shape.com says that a BMI of 30 is an indicator of obesity, so if they (body fat and BMI) mean the same thing then something is definately not right.
