Best Buy (home entertainment/electronics store) is the embodiment of evil!


My mom went to Best Buy to buy my brother and I iPods for our Christmas gift. Unfortunately she didn't know much about iPods so the saleman totally took her for a sucker and told her that the iPods wouldn't work without all of these other peices (USB cable, charger, headphones etc) so she spent alot more money that she had intended to b/c she didn't want to give us something that wouldn't work properly. But iPods already come with headphones and everything you need to get started. So when we opened our gifts Xmas moring she was pretty upset to learn that she had been taken for a ride.


So my brother went to Best Buy to complain about the crappy service that my mom had gotten. The sales guy he spoke to was very nice and told my brother to bring back all the stuff and he would exchange our 2GB iPods for 4GB. Sweet!


Except that when we actually went to Best Buy, that guy is no longer working there (this was only 2 days after my brother talked to him) and they wouldn't they honor that deal. Boo! And to top it off they don't even have any 4GB iPods and don't know when they will get any. Best Buy- you suck!

That sucks big time!

I agree, all my experiences at Best Buy have sucked. None of the employees know anything about anything in the store. The lines are always long and take forever.

I bought my first digi cam there, and I wanted some advice since I had never had one. The customer service sucked. I pretty much picked out which camera to buy all on my own b/c I couldn't get anyone to help.

awww that sucks.  i feel bad for your mom b/c i could see my mom doing the same thing...


i have never had issues with my best buy.  we always have had very nice sales people who were very knowledgeable about the products they were speaking to us about.  if they didn't know, they always brought someone else over who did. 


i'm sorry they treated you the way that they did!

Interesting that you posted this, just this morning I was thinking about posting a rant about Best Buy - specifically the website.


We ordered a gift card through the canadian version website Bestbuy.ca on December 8.  The gift card was supposed to be sent directly to my brother in law.  When the 18th rolled around and our card hadn't been charged, my DH called to see what was up.  He got an apology that our order hadn't been processed, and a promise that it would be done the next day and our gift card would still arrive by Christmas.  A couple days go by and still nothing happens, DH calls again and is told that our credit card was denied.  I call my bank to see what was up and was told that our card WAS NOT denied, in fact, Best Buy had not even attempted to put a transaction thru!  They had totally lied about it.  When DH called Best Buy again, they corrected themselves and said that they didn't have enough information to process the transaction, which was again total BS.  We tried a couple more times with them, but eventually had to cancel the order. 


Best Buy gave us a crap excuse that it was a "complicated international transaction."  Funny, I placed similar orders with a 1/2 dozen other companies and never had a problem.


I'm sorry, Brazenhead.  That is just lame.

I HATE Bestbuy. When hub and I went to buy a dvd there years ago the salesboy tried to sell us all these other cables/components telling us we needed them in order for the dvd player to work. In our minds we were like "what the F is he talking about?" Needless to say when we got home it worked just fine on it's own.


Last spring I went there to look for a digital video cam and the salesboy was completely clueless about the features telling me that "no digital video cameras have have manual focus, (blah, blah, blah...)." Looking there on my own I found at last 50% of the cameras DID have manual focus.


I also hate the noise in there and how they try to sell you a warranty for everything.

The noise at Best Buy is so annoying.  Most sales people are like that.  Telling you need this and that, upgrade to this, because that is shitty quality, I have this same one (yeah right) it is fabulous!

I actually work for Best Buy, I am a supervisor in the Operations department (customer service, and front lanes). While I can only represent my store, I was very concerned to hear BrazenCanadian's situation.
