Warm AND sexy outfit help needed
Permalink Closed

I'm going to Philly/WC next month with the boy and I have no idea what to bring other than jeans, sweaters, camis/tees for layering.  I want to look cute and stylish.  We'll be going out on the weekends with his friends, so I need outfits that are warm and sexy (but not overtly so).  Also need advice on footwear since I don't have anything appropriate for the weather.  We'll be there for 5 days.  BTW, I have a coat, so I'm all set in that area.

Thanks much!

A great way to stay warm but still look sexy is an off the shoulder cashmere sweater.  Pair it with jeans/cords and pointy toe heels (wear with trouser socks for warmth).  Oh, and some dangly earrings.

Victoria's Secret has a ton of sexy and warm sweaters... most of which are on sale.

I totally agree with Fashionprincess about the off the shoulder sweater. I have 4 that I love to wear in winter because they are kinda unexpected and look great with big earrings. My favorite is similar to the black one she posted because it can be dressy or casual. I also bought this one and really like it. It's really warm, soft and sexy because it's really form fitting.

in this color

I also like really fitted turtlenecks. My favorite is a J.crew tissue tee, but this one is really cute too.

Other warm/casual/sexy things...

Thank you girls so much!  I loved your ideas!! I love off the shoulder swtrs but haven't worn worn in a while and forgot how sexy they can be.  Also, I am rarely without a blazer or jacket so I'll pack a few of those as well. I have since determined that I can pack less for my trip, thus, leaving me more room for all the purchases I hope to make at the KOP mall.   I think I'll just buy some snow boots because I know I'll want to play in the white stuff and want to be warm while I do it.

Again, many thanks.  You guys rock!

just to help you out a little...i live in philly and it's been unseasonably warm. mid thirties/low forties since mid december. it hasn't been that terribly cold since the beginning of december. snow boots are prolly not going to be needed unless you are going skiing or something nearby. definitely check the weather report before you go, that way you know to pack the boots or not. plus, i actually haven't worn my heavy winter coat yet, which is a jcrew wool coat with thinsulate, ive been nice and toasty with a heavier canvas/cotton coat from jcrew with a sweater on underneath. i also have only worn a hat a couple of times and gloves not at all, my scarf is all ive needed. and i actually spend quite a bit of time outside walking to and from the trolley, to lunch, to the market...etc, i don't drive. will you be spending more time in wc or philly? wc is going to be about ten degrees colder because it's out in the burbs but philly tends to be windier so i guess it evens out cold wise.

if you're in philly itself put aside some of the kop money to do some shopping along walnut avenue and maybe even out in manayunk for boutiques. i don't shop in boutiques cause i ain't got no money...but that's where i would shop if i could. walnut avenue and kop have a lot of similar stores but i find it funner to shop along walnut (and nearby chesnut for h&m and libery shops with jcrew, benetton) because it's prettier than some silly mall. walnut shopping starts at rittenhouse square which is great for restaurants and people watching and coffee shops.

whatcha doing coming down here? where are you from?

hope that helps!!! let me know if you need any other advice on stuff. i love my city!

I agree with Rel. NO snow boats. We hit a high of 50 degrees yesterday! You aren't going to need them unless something changes around here fast!

relrel and JoceyBaby -- thanks much for the heads up.  i will not buy snow boots.  this is very disappointing news for me.  i guess i will hold out hope for snow in Feb.  relrel -- thanks for mentioning other shopping areas.  might have to check those out.  i live in Texas but my boy is from WC (his family still lives there), but we're going just because -- to hang out with friends and for me to experience winter.  we here in Texas have unofficially reached Spring with our 70 and 80 degree temps.  i'm excited to go regardless of the temp.  i love his parents and can't wait to meet his friends and eat a real Philly cheesesteak!  the boy laughs at the way they make them down here.

Tashina -- i really love this look but have been afraid to try it for fear i will be all breasts.  it's cute on model though; i even like the beanie.  thanks for the idea; you always have great ones.
