Domino Mag Jan/Feb 2006
Permalink Closed

I'm liking this magazine more & more with every issue.  It reminds me the now defunct Livingroom Magazine that I bought multiple copies of.  I buy magazines for inspiration, not for catalog use, so the prices don't really bother me too much.  I'm bummed it is going to be a while for another issue since they group Jan & Feb together.

To top it all off, there is an article about the home of Gennifer Goodman.  For those that remember, she was the Oilily director featured in the home section in Lucky magazine.  Her living room was decorated in pink & brown, and she had all kinds of cute vintage items in her apartment.  I feel like I've been stalking her, because her apartment in San Francisco was featured in Budget Magazine.  She mentioned in that article that they were moving to Tennessee, and I had a feeling her house would show up in another home magazine

i like this mag so much, too.  i really miss the home section in lucky, so this is a great fix for me.

i was thinking the same thing about that gennifer goodman!  i saw the other two spreads about her other homes and loved her decorating style.  i was wondering why she keeps getting her homes profiled though--like what's in it for her to keep doing it? i like looking at the pics, but it's not like she's an interior designer pimping her firm or her furniture line...

I like Domino too and the subscription is so cheap. I catch my hubby looking at it all the time. We get some good ideas from it.

I was wondering that too.  I thought she and her husband/fiance were maybe going to go into a freelance consulting business, and she was trying to drum up free advertising.  Her shop looks cute, but I was like, a nail salon?  Maybe it is $$$

I missed this post first time around.  I'm in love with domino magazine.  I'm saving all the issues just because they're so great.  I feel like it's the only home magazine that reflects my taste in home decor--not to minimalist or modern, but not too traditional either.  It's a nice eclectic mix.  I'm getting so many good ideas from it!

i'm pretty sure that people don't get any type of payment whatsoever for appearing in magazines, unless home mags are different than other kinds.  if anything, it's probably a huge pain in the butt to have your house tied up for a few days for a photo shoot and everything.  i am thinking that maybe she is just a nice person and does it as a favor to friends who are editors at magazines.  she used to be a design director or something at gap inc., right? she probably knows a lot of people that produce pages for magazines.

I bought the premiere issue and thought it was pretty bad, I remember they had this goofy thing where they would make an outfit and a room with a similiar scheme. Anyhoo, I just picked up the Jan-Feb issue and I think the magazine is much improved from that first issue.

eta: am I a prude or is it kind of strange to cast your childrens behind and hang it on the wall?
