I've been on a ban since Thanksgiving. I did buy a few things with my Christmas gift cards, but I haven't spend any of my own money. I am trying to hold off until mid-March. Although, I'm giving myself $50/month for assessories and vintage finds.
Yay! I'm glad to see that we'll have such a large support group. I definitely think this will make it easier not to cheat and that we should do the weekend non-shopping threads. I also agree that this is the perfect time of year to try to cut spending because there aren't any even real temptations until the spring stuff comes out and it's warm enough to actually wear it.
I've never done a total ban before either, but I think I can do it this time. Half of the fun is setting a goal and achieving it so it kind of makes the whole thing rewarding.
Luckylily, you've been on a ban since Nov and you're going until March? That's awesome, I don't think I could ever make it more than a couple of months.
I'm not the best at full-on bans...but my big goal for '06 is to pay off $3k in cc debt and my 3k student loan. I'm going to allow myself a "last supper" when my brother gets to town and takes me to an outlet mall.
I am really trying to go for quality over quantity and have been for some time now. I will be severly limiting my purchases to replacement items until ALL the debt has been paid off. I do have shoes that are wearing out after walking hard on them for a few years.
Count me in. DH and I are house hunting, so no more shopping except for replacement stuff and one or two real treats. I purged my closet this week and was annoyed by how many things I buy (generally on sale) that I don't wear. Thanks for posting all, I don't feel like I'm all alone on the ban now!
my goal is to save my jan budget and combine it with feb in time for the intermix sale.
Of course Daily Candy will probably send me a note about this the week of.Do yo have the dates already.I'm going to start setting some dough aside and request a day off of work so that I can shop.

Im also interested in learning about this intermix sale?

i don't have the dates yet, but i think it will either be the week of 2/13 or the week of 2/20. they usually have them around mid-feb. i'll post as soon as i find out exact dates. but that will probably be in feb.
I'd like to join in (again), my spending for the past few months has been OUTRAGEOUS!!! I am NOT happy w/myself, so..... Plus I'm saving for a trip later on this year, other than my usual trip(s) to Louisiana, so...... And pay off some credit cards (small ones) as well.

i am trying to impose a mini-ban. i can't do full-on, but i don't really spend that much on clothes anyhow...i am trying to really limit my thrifting, because i usually end up buying stuff i really don't need.
we are getting new windows in jan/feb and while we have some money saved in escrow, it's a bit more than i was expecting, so it's going to be tight for awhile.
i also put my husband on a semi-ban on record purchases.
I'm in! I'm going to set aside $100 a month, like NCShopper, for any beauty or clothing purchases that might have to be made. I'm saving money to relocate, so that's good incentive!
