Eye shadow question
Permalink Closed

I've been wearing darker eyeshadow lately, and I've noticed that it tends to fall off my lids and accumulate right under my eyes in a little line.  It makes me look like I'm either dead tired or on drugs.  I've tried putting some stick concealer on my eyelids to keep the shadow in place, but that doesn't work very well.  I don't put a ton of shadow on, and sometimes I go over it w/ a q-tip to get the excess off, but that doesn't seem to help either. Does anyone have any tips for keeping the shadow on the actual eyelid?

An eyeshadow base might be wat you need.  I had the same problem (oily eyelids?) and it was totally remedied with Clinique Touch Base eyeshadow base.  I know there are some STers who use other brands, too.

Benefit makes 2 eyeshadow bases.  I use Lemonaid and I never have problems with my eyeshadow when I use it.  It is for your more dry eyelids.  Eye Con is the other and it is for your oily eyelids (I have no clue how to tell if you have either - I just ask them there)

Benefit makes another kind, called F.Y. Eye. Got mine at Sephora. It helps a lot but my eyes are excessively watery (people think I always cry about everything) so it does get dissolved by the end of the day (maybe about 6-7 hours of wearing) but it holds the eye shadow up pretty nicely until then. But then, my eyes are really extremely watery, so it might work better for you.

I've tried another one from Trish McEvoy a while back and it made my eyelids super dry and kinda flaky-looking but I think it's discontinued, I couldn't find it anywhere. But I'm willing to try their new(?) Bare Essential.

I also tried Laura Mercier's Eye Basics but I didn't like the scent.

Please let us know what you try and end up with. I'll be VERY interested in learning about new products. Good luck and happy experimenting!

I've heard good things about Benefit - thanks for the tip soundmind!  I'm gonna try it!

I use a base from MAC and it holds well. If I wear shadoe alone - it is gone in an hour.

The Benefit one works really well. And the color is pretty enough to wear alone. I'm a fan of that one. I also use an eyeshadow base by Too Faced, and I like it. It seems to work...just go and try out eyeshadow bases to find one that works for you. Or maybe try some creme eyeshadows, they stick to any eyelid unlike powder.

I'll third or fourth the Benefit's. It really works wonders and the color stays so true as well.

I'm sorry I got the benefit stuff mixed up.  FYEye is the other one not Eye Con.  My bad.

I'm a big fan of Laura Mercier's eyeshadow base.

My local sephora was out of Lemon-Aid so I opted for the Clinique Touch Base in light canvas.  I love it! It worked fabulously!  My eye shadow stayed on, didn't form a line in the crease, and didn't get under my eyes.
