shampoo/conditioner help

First post ever!!

I could really use some help with finding a new shampoo/conditioner on my newly highlighted hair..I currently use John Frieda Brilliant Burnette..but I have noticed that my hair is really tangly, which is unusual and I want something really good that will protect my color and make my thick/curly/frizzy hair soft and shiny and not weigh it down. I try to not wash it everyday (it does so much better this way, even though i need to find something good to use in between washes) and I only try to straighten it with my Chi on the weekends...My hair gets dry on the ends, but greasy near the roots..so I guess I'm looking for some kind of miracle prodcut to remedy these things! I'm willing to spend a little more on quality products..

Any suggestions? I have read about a bunch in past reviews..but i'm still lost! Any help would be marvelous! TIA

I have hair very similar to yours, down to the highlighting and straightening on the weekends. I used Matrix - Biolage color care shampoo and conditioner.

This works great for my hair, but it may work differently for different people. I juse this everyday without a problem. When I get out of the shower I use Infusium 23 leave in conditioner, in addition to regular conditioner and this seems to have helped with my split ends. If I've wreaked considerable havoc on my hair, I sometimes put the Infusium in right before bed and put a shower cap on while I sleep (I know that visual is disturbing.)

HTH!

I've used quite a few things over the years.  I've tried Sheer Blonde and still use the conditioner with other shampoo, I've tried the pantene color protectant (I hated it!! Made my hair a greasy flyaway mess), Paul Mitchell super skinny, Abba, Bumble and Bumble, and now a brand called Salon Professionals.

I really loved bumble and bumble but I lucked out and found it at Hudson's treasure chest (in case you are familar if not Hudson's is a disaster area worse than a flea market) for less than half price.  But I just couldn't shell out $40 for shampoo and conditioner once I finished the bottle.  It was just too high for me to do.

The Paul Mitchell Super Skinny is suppose to cut your blow dry time in half and protect your color.  But I didn't notice any difference with my blow dry time and after a while my hair got to be a greasy mess with it.

Salon Professional I get at my hair salon so i don't know who would carry it.  I really like it and my hair does not get greasy or fly away with it.  I've used it for almost 3 months and am on my second bottle which is a good sign for my hair.

thank you both..my friend was telling me that she swears by ABBA Tru mint..is that what you used Isubatgirl? I also read a lot about Aveda, Redken, KMS, and Kerastase products on MA..so i was considering them too perhaps. there is just so much out there and i'm flustered! Maybe I can find some samples and test a few out or something...

Thanks for the help!

My mom used the abba so I can't remember.  I just used it when we would go on family vacation and it did have a nice mint smell and did pretty well with my hair.

I've tried aveda but the fact that I can't get it to lather as much as my other shampoos bugs me so i tend not to use their stuff because I just don't feel like I'm cleaning my hair with it.  Their stuff smells nice too.

I had my hair highlighted for years, but recently had it dyed to a sligtly darker shade of brown than my natural color. Like yours, it would get dry toward the ends, but greasy at the roots. I am a big, huge fan of Frederic Fekkai. I've been using his glossing shampoo and conditioner for a while now, and I love it. It worked great when I had lighter hair (but looks even better now that my hair is darker)

Glossing ShampooGlossing Conditioner

I switch these out once every few weeks for Dove Intense Moisture shampoo and conditioner. I used to hear that if you use certain products everyday, you become sort of immune to them so they don't do their job anymore. I have *no* idea if this is true, but it works for me .

I also want to say that I use my Chi almost everyday, which may not be good for my hair, but as long as I use FF glossing cream afterward, it's fine.

Glossing CreamI LOVE THIS STUFF! It makes my hair feel so soft and look so shiny... it's amazing. It's a miracle product, honest!

BTW: Yay for your first post!

I know they make travel sizes of the Frederic Fekkai stuff at sephora. I've been meaning to try it but haven't gotten around to it yet. A few girls use it on here and they really like it.  I think the glossing creme comes in a travel size too if I remember correctly.

kenra is available at trade secret which is in most malls if you want to check it out.  hth.

www.tradesecret.com has a store locator and you can check it out if you click on brands on the left side, it tells you what brands they carry.

This is kind of off topic, but I am currently using the Paul Mitchell Super Skinny and I notice that when I finger comb my hair while blow-drying it, it feels like there is residue or something on my hair. I can also feel it when it's freshly blowdried although it does kind of go away after awhile. Is this stuff supposed to be what cuts down on the drying time? Or did you even notice it when you used it? (I take it that's what you mean by your hair was a greasy mess).

And also, just to review my experience... it smells great and I like it a lot (other than the weird residue stuff) and it has made my hair feel soft and shiny... but I didn't notice a change in blow-dry time.

I don't remember it having a residue feeling but I used it around last christmas so its been a while. I think my hair just got use to the product really quickly so that's why it was a greasy mess most of the time towards the end of my using it.

I do remember it having a nice smell though.  I miss that.
