so i always hit up TJ Maxx, Pier One, and like places after holidays and try to snatch up some decorations for next year, etc...so i headed towards World Market. well, next door was The Container store so i stopped there first to possibly one thing.
i decided i might be able to find my bf something to organize his mail. So i strolled in there on the way to the section i needed, and took a detour. as i was walking i found some clear plastic bottles. "perfect, i'm going out of town on friday, i've always been meaning to get small travel bottles for shampoos, etc..". so i grabbed a couple. then i saw labels for them. "even more perfect, there are labels for EVERYTHING! sweet! oh, crap, i need five more bottles. what if i need one for medicated shampoo, sun block, finishing spray, hair spray... no worries, they are less than $2 a pop!" so i natched up a couple more, plus the labels. a pill case, i think i need that. hmm, post holiday wrapping here, great. drawer organizer, a must...
ladies..i couldn't stop myself. i everything in there. a hundred bucks later, i left.
then i went to the world market (cost plus). some wine, a bunch of tissue paper, some wine bags, some cute gold and silver bags for gifts for birthdays, next year. they were all 50% off so i snatched them up too. gotta love fancy ribbon...
please say you ladies do that too. i went for one thing, and possibly $20 worth of wrapping paper, and ended up paying ten times that amount. what stores do you do that at (so i know to avoid them)?
i must say, everything i got is great, but nothing that i really needed.

i do that constantly, and at the same kinds of stores. usually i can back away from the merch in clothing stores and tell myself that i don't need something, but random stuff like wine and wrapping paper and plastic containers--i cannot restrain myself. so yes, i feel your pain. don't beat yourself up too much, though--just think how much time you will save in the coming months when you have stuff to wrap all of your gifts and don't have to run to the store to get it at the last minute.
There is this place by me called Hobby Lobby. Oh. My. God. Let's just say that for EVERY holiday they have like a warehouse of crap and cute decorations and little nothings that I don't need but are so cute. Then it's the craft department which is the other half of the warehouse full of "stuff I think I can make or do that ends up all over my house" I love it and hate it! I can spend hours there. There are like 4 isles of scrapbooking stuff!! It's insane.
I do the same thing at those places! Container store, Cost Plus, and especially at tj maxx 'n more (I usually don't find much at regular tj maxx). One day I went there and when I was done I had enough valentine decor to last me a lifetime.
I did that last night too. I went to Dillard's and bought $100 worth of 50% off Godiva. Then, I went to B&BW - they have a crazy sale - and dropped another hundred stocking up on le couvent des minimes products, c.o. bigelow moisturizers, lip balm, and random gifts here and there. The worst part is I don't plan on taking anything back to Chicago with me. I'll probably leave most things with my mom here, and I do intend to give some away as hostess gifts next week when I go to Utah and Arizona. But it sure was rewarding to buy the stuff :)

Me too. I go to Target if I need a tube of toothpaste and cotton balls b/c the price is cheaper, but then I wander to the clothes or jewelry department and I don't get out of there for less than $50. That is some expensive toothpaste, LOL!

Target is totally my vice. I go there because their basics are cheaper then everywhere else, but I get lured into buying random stuff so probably end up being more expensive than buying basics at the grocery store down the street... oh well. I love it.
I have resisted lots and lots of after Christmas sale tempations. So many cute holiday decor. I did allow myself a lovely roll of red and a roll of gold wrapping since I am out of those colors and they were less than $2 a roll.
i feel you. i spent 40 dollars on hangers the other day. this usually happens at target as well. i usually end up going "oh, those lemon shaped ice cube trays are so cute! i totally need those!"
