so i'm sorry to open the can about my black purse again, but i've decided enough is enough, i need to make a decision, my bf is probably going to take back the offer if i don't act...

so, i was shopping yesterday and saw the fendi spy bag and i literally swooned.  i love it!  but everytime i see a lady carrying the paddington i want it too.  the problem is, i think i like the paddington in the light blue/gray color more than black.

should i get the fendi spy in black and get the paddinton in the light blue/gray for a spring bag?

i was hoping just to get the one bag (the one the bf is paying for) and use the money for some jewelry for spring.  what do you ladies think?

jocey, detroit, are you happy with the paddington, is it big enough?  what size do you have?

thanks so much for any feedback ladies!

I LOVE my paddington. I have the biggest size in the orange/tan color.

2 things (very small negatives):

1. I wish the bag was a little bigger. But as you know, I like my bags HUGE.

2. I also wish the lock was a little lighter. It is seriously soo heavy to carry around all day. Sometimes I have to take it off because it weights me down. And then the bag just doesn't look the same without it.

Get both.  There is no way I could choose between them.  They're both so gorgeous but very different from each other so it's hard to really compare them.  I  hadn't seen the paddy IRL until yesterday when I saw someone with a black one and it's so beautiful.  I had to stop and stare at it for a minute.  I seriously envy the girls who have the Paddy and I love the Spy just as much so I think you should get both.

I voted for both (surprise, surprise huh?).  The Spy bag could be your basic black bag and the Paddington, like you said, your spring bag.  It looks hot in the lighter color.
I've wanted it for a while and would get it now if it weren't for my current "plasma by Superbowl" movement :)
Let us know what you do!!

I think those are both beautiful bags in their own right, and would definitely get both!  I love the color of that paddington!

go for both, if you can! I like your idea of the light one for spring/summer and the dark one for fall/winter (although you can use both year round - I am really loving creams and pale blues this winter.)

my paddington is plenty large for me - my stuff swims in it - but it makes for a great everyday bag that will accomodate whatever you need to throw into it for the day...

what kind of jewelry are you talking about?  that might sway me.  I think you should choose one bag, sorry i know they are both different, but save the money you'd spend and think about it- these bags were both from last season or so, who knows what kind of cuteness will arrive this year!

as far as the bags, i like the spy better.  but i LOVE the color of that paddington.  so much that i'm thinking of trying to find another bag in that color.  i'm just really not sold on that huge lock- though i do think i saw a girl carrying it once w/o the lock and while i didn't think it was a paddington, she said it was chloe and i thought it was really cute.  maybe you could put a smaller lock in it haha.  at least it would be personalized =)

probably this: Y6122 Diamond Crossover Bracelet 2200.00 which i know is not probably not going to "sway" you, given you seem to like more original pieces.

i don't know why, i really like david yurman pieces.  i have also been looking at cathy waterman pieces for quite some time...

Cathy Waterman - Platinum and Diamond Baby Love Charm(i think this one is sweet).

maybe he will get me one for my birthday in jan. and then i can get both AND a piece of jewelry!

I love the paddington, but I don't really care for the spy. I think you should just get one and get a nice piece of jewelry. I really like the David Yurman bracelet you posted!

if being concerned about bags becoming "last season" were so important then we'd never buy any bags, would we? even the "cuteness that arrives this year" will be last season next season...

I'm curious, lynnie - what kind of bag do you like to carry, or what would you buy? (sorry for the hijack, shopgirl82 - but since we're on the subject...)

whoa whoa, didn't mean it in a bad way. what i meant was- you have $1500 or so to spend, maybe see what is out there this season, just to make sure that you prefer the spy or paddington compared against everything.  there could be a different fendi or chloe that you prefer.  thats all.  i actually prefer last season or a few season olds bags to the newest thing- i've never said that i only carry this season's things or i dont like when things are last season

sorry, i feel attacked.

I'm sorry you feel you're being attacked.  It's just that you have been the dissenter in some recent bag posts and that you had a lot of criteria that you follow before you buy a bag, so I was curious about what you chose to carry because with all the careful thought it might be a better choice than I'm making - that's all

well, i have a lot of criteria because for the most part, i'm trying to talk myself out of bags.  and if someone is on the edge, i'll list cons even if everyone loves a bag, not because i don't love it, but because i just want someone to think of every possible aspect before spending that money.  i'm not trying to critique anyone's choices- just offerring a little input on the process I go through before i buy a big purchase, clothing or not, and i realize that not everyone is looking for the same things as I am.  I guess i usually go for practicality and how much i love something, the quality of the leather, comfort factor, the color, the size/shape, how much i can wear it, whether i personally would get sick of it - which may be before a trend ends or I may love something against trends and against the better judgement of everyone i know.  because of all this, i don't have a super expensive bag yet, which is probably for the better, because i need to save some money up, and at 22, i'm ok with treating myself later in life (or as soon as i can comfortably afford to!)

that being said- i love this bag.  i guess i go for simple bags that have a few cool details and look like really supple leather.  i like bags that stand alone but could be added after an outfit- i dont like dressing around bags merely because i'm too lazy to switch all my stuff out, and know i'll be using the same bag for months at a time due to this.

sorry that was so long winded- didn't want anyone to think i was calling anything "last season" because thats usually only a compliment in my book!

I voted for the Spy and jewelry.  I don't know about you, but even though the Paddy is gorgeous in that color, I don't think I would carry it enough to justify that kind of $$.  The jewelry just seems more wearable and practical to me.  Sorry, I know that wasn't the fun answer .  If you were to get the Paddy in a different color, then I would def. say get both!

I am an enabler. I have seen both IRL and really couldn't choose just one. But I know nice jewelry was one of your resolutions...

I voted for both too, but actually after reading your post about what jewelry, I might be tempted to say just get the Spy bag (the Paddington may become very heavy to carry - I know I LOVE big bags too) and invest in some great timeless stuff.  I don't have any David Yurman yet, but I think any of his pieces will last forever!  Good luck - it's definitely a hard choice!

I saw that Paddington IRL yesterday at Nordies. *drool* I persoanlly prefer the styling of the Paddington to the Spy bag, but this has everything to do with the fact that I prefer structured bags and even when I have a slouchy bag, it tends to have more structure.

However it seems that you are in mad, deep love with the Spy bag...and you should therefore get it. You should also get that Paddington because it serves a completely different purpose! Job done...get both!
