Just a small rant/vent. I hate how conservative the area where I live is (fashionwise).  Today, I'm wearing cropped grey pinstripe trousers, a pink sweater and pale aqua pumps (I'll post a pic later).  Apparently, I'm in a 'crazy outfit.'  WTF????  I look professional and fashionable.  Grrr. So annoying. I'm not used to this since I've been living in a fairly urban/fashion conscious area for the past several years.

Just wanted to vent. Thanks for listening.

Who criticized that outfit?! Sounds hot to me. So sorry, you have to live with the Amish. Trust me, you get used to getting looked at. Pretty soon, you won't even notice it!

Some guy who actually isn't that much older than me.  Fortunately, there is one other guy in the office who is always well dressed and fashionable and he takes crap for it, too.  He was like, 'don't worry, you look good. People here just don't get it." Ha.

On a side note, I'm glad that my only complaint about my job is that people don't get fashion around here.

I have the same problem at my job!  I wore my dress that Lilykind got me with jeans, black heels, a blazer, and some long necklaces.  Everyone thought I was crazy (except for the few fashionable people I work with- they loved it!).  People talked about my outfit all day and people came by to see it too- I ended up not getting any work done.  Part of living in a small, conservative area I guess!

Well dont worry you look fab.  and although I dont dress as chic as some of the ladies here i get looks at my my job because I dress better than the others  and sometime they ask me"why do you dress like this for work the clients dont care what you look like?"   I say well I care what I look like and if I take them out to dr. appoitments etc.. I want to look half way decent

So girl you just keep on looking fab and maybe you will rub off on the others

poor Nyla! I feel like that sometimes too, and I am by no means an adventurous dresser. You should have seen the weird looks I got when I wore cropped pants with boots.

I remember one time, when some of my teenage students were giggling at me. I was wearing denim editors, a green sweater, gold necklaces and gold ballet flats. I asked what the problem was, and she said, "Oh, Mrs. (Halleybird)! You're so funny. You have to wear green shoes if you're going to wear a green shirt." LOL

Ha!  I'm not too adventurous at work either (afterall, it is work).  But apparently, if I'm not wandering around in big old boots and a company logo polo, I'm dressed 'all crazy.' Hehe. I was seriously amused. As was my one fashionable friend at work.

this is what passes for "well dressed" at my job:

Houses Amour Jacket Ma Pinitiao Sea Tee                      Sassy!!!

OMG I can so relate.  I wore my brown kimono sweater to work once and my coworker kept saying I looked like Clint Eastwood in "The Quick and the Dead."  And because he couldn't let a dead horse lie, he kept singing the theme song throughout the day.  Soooooooooooooooo not amusing.  And the sweater doesn't look abnormal at all, which is what I don't get.  But yeah, I get those looks too sometimes and I dress pretty conservatively.

I once wore a long cardi (the wrap kind) in light brown with khaki pants and the kids called me Obi-Wan Kenobi all day. In my case, they were kind of right, though.

(Sorry for the thread hijack, NylaBelle, but I really do feel your pain!)
