I was sifting through the junk drawer in my kitchen and found a really cool keychain with a big fleur-de-lis in turquoise enamel trimmed with silver, so I threw it on a silver chain and now I'm wearing it as a necklace. I'm going to go try to find some more cute keychains and see what I can put together . Do you ever do this?
It looks sort of like this:

I do that too, I have an old skeleton key I want to make into a necklace. What does the fleur-di-lis symbolize? (I saw a sweater on Bluefly with it, but was afraid to buy it 'cause i didn't know if it's simply a shape or if it means something.)
I just googled it and it doesn't seem to have much meaning besides a symbol (although if I missed something, someone let me know!). I just like the way they look .

Fleur d'lis literally means "flower of the lily." It's commonly associated with France, but many countries use it. It's also on the flag of New Orleans, so if you ever get into any "trouble" for wearing it you can always say that you are wearing it in support of New Orleans.
