i saw this in harpers as an "it" bag, and i kinda think its ugly, but whatever.
anyway- i am really strangely attracted to the one buckle canvas version..maybe because i think its also ugly but less blingy meaning less people will carry it? also, i think its kinda cute in its ugliness and could be worn better because its less "look at me look at me". it reminds me of this cool girl i know. anyway, i'd feel silly buying it (maybe i will though! ha!) but i keep thinking, maybe i actually like this one.
yea i'm weird like that too. i'd totally wear a chanel quilted classic bag which i guess is "look at me look at me", but i'm always hesitant towards anything labeled an "it" bag. I guess my style just isn't very trendy- more classic but sort of funky and offbeat. i'd have to see that second one in person though before i decide, as well as see if they have black non-patent detailing. i'd also have to know pricing and see how big its gonna be this season and if i like it enough to wear it after its time has passed (when i truly love something, i prefer to wear it after its time has passed, when i like something because its in, i hate it in a few months..)
I think if you could get rid of the patent leather, you could have a really great bag. I like the shape and I like the detailing, but the patent leather isn't doing it for me. Also, how long are the straps? It looks like it's hitting her at the hip, which seems like an odd length to me--not to say it wouldn't work, but I'm just not used to it.
Anyway, look away from it and come back to it in a week or two. If you're still haunted by it, then get it. That's what I try to do when contemplating big purchases.
ETA: That first bag doesn't do anything for me as it is, but if it weren't in patent and they didn't have the cheap looking turquoise links in the chain, it could be much cuter.
i the 2nd bag you posted. it reminds me of something i would find in my grandmother's closet (in a good way)...
yea, i think that might be one of the reasons i'm subconsciously attracted to it. it looks like an old lady purse- which i tend to love when done right. theres something classic about it- when you look at vintage purses you never see the huge leather bags of today (which i love, but i can easily find one of those if i want one)
ncshopper- the top one comes in a ton of fabrics/leathers, and two sizes, i just randomly chose one. some are cuter than others, but i still dont really like it.
I am drawn to the buckle bag... probably because it reverences a couple of my favorite vintage/antique things - bakelite and buckle rings (both victorian and deco). I also don't understand what people have against patent leather - I've always liked it - is it that people are worried that others will think it's plastic?

detroit- i'm ok with patent- i have some ferragamos that i think are really pretty in patent (though i don't think its as comfy!). i'd have to see this bag in person- maybe the patent would look ok. i guess i wanted to see if there were other options though- i tend to gravitate towards softer leathers.
I don't know what it is about patent. Sometimes I like it and sometimes I don't. On the first bag the pantent could be fine, but I think maybe more than anything it's the turquoise links that bug me. They probably look better in person, but they look kinda plastic-y to me in the pic and coupled with the pantent, it makes it look kinda cheap.

I don't usually like patent leather and it's not because I'm afraid others will think it's plastic. Mainly it's because I usually don't like it aesthetically - not so into shiny stuff - but I also feel like it doesn't age that well. Regular leather will get creases but it usually just stays slightly wrinkled. In my experiences when patent leather gets creases the leather can actually tear. Scuffs can be harder to get rid off and scrapes are a much bigger problem. Also even though it's better than plastic it seems like it's prone to the same problems - doesn't have as much give and breathability so I sometimes find patent shoes more uncomfortable than regular leather ones and I don't really like carry patent bags in hot weather because they feel umcomfortable next to my skin.
The more I look at it, the more I like it, although I think it looks more like a $400 bag than a $2000 bag. They had a different version in Allure that was really nice looking (I think it was black on black).

i agree- i wonder how much they are? they can't be $2000, that would be absurd (the canvas one). how much were spy bags? this has got to be less...

The top one was in Allure in patent leather and the price is listed as $2000 . It's actually really nice even though I'm not really into shiny bags.
I like the canvas one too. I just saw a leather trimmed canvas bag that was really cute but I forget where. I thought it was Coach but I can't find it anymore.
