I could use some help with two vintage hats that I own. I love hats, and wear them often, and don't usually have problems with outfits. But these two are troublesome, b/c I don't want to look costumy, and I can never decide if they should be dressed up or down. Ideas?
The first is a light green felt hat shaped kind've like this one, but the brim isn't folded like this one - it dips down over the eyes and is longer, forming *almost* a cloche shape. It has a simple rhinestone pin on one side (which I can remove). It also doesn't have a crazy red swirly thing dangling from it.
The second one is a black hat shaped pretty much like this. It is a very short faux-furrish fabric, but the furryness is so subtle as to be almost unnoticeable, and the brim is cut a bit more generously on the front and sides than in the back. Please please help! TIA!

Yeah, I think you run the lowest risk of looking costumey if they are dressed down. I think they could be dressed up, but it would require the 'perfect' ensemble and those don't come along too often IMO.
And maybe after you've worn them a couple of times in dressed down ways, you'll be more comfortable in them and will feel more able to experiment with them dressed up?
