I would like to get my friend a gift for Christmas, he helped me a lot this school semester by giving me a ride from school. Otherwise I would have to have taken to buses and walk 2 miles to get home. I was thinking somewhere between $25-30. Any ideas???

Hmmm...does he have an iPod?  If so, a car adapter could be a cool idea or some other accessory.  Or, you could get a travel mug and a GC to Starbucks.  Also in the $20-30 range: Coach has some really nice keychains for men.  I got one for my husband a few years ago and he really liked it.  I usually try to think along the lines of buying something that a person wouldn't buy themselves, but would get a kick out of anyway.

what kind of things does he enjoy? i think his favorite beer/alcohol always does the trick. gifts for boys are tricky. maybe an amazon or best buy card? i despise giving gift cards but always enjoy receiving them.

if he drinks coffee, i would get him a gc to his favorite stop.  and just so it doesn't look like you just went a bought him a gc, you could add a batch of homemade cookies in a pretty tin with it.  i know my brother and bf love homemade cookies.
