I work in Regulatory Affairs (RA) in the Pharma Industry.  A lot of people with JDs work in this field (a woman in my group has a JD).  Basically you would act as a liasion between the company and the regulatory agencies (FDA, EMEA, etc.).

Nobody ever knows what RA is when I tell them, but I really love my job.  If you want any additional info, I can elaborate....

Any interest in public policy?  I know state governments are always looking for people with law degrees to do legal work on proposed bills and whatnot.

My aunt has a J.D. and she's done human resources for years.  I don't know if that's something you'd be interested in, but that's an option too.

there is so much you can do with a jd and i really think the jd can get you in almost anywhere.

i graduated from law school only 3 years ago, and already several of my friends from law school are not practicing law (or practicing law only peripherally) - one is a life coach (don't ask, but he does really well), one is an investment banker, one is a real estate broker, several are legal headhunters, and one is a law school career counselor. 

and the friends that do still practice law do a variety of things other than working for a law firm or for the govt - many work for non-profits (both law related and not), some work in-house, one started his own practice/law firm.

i started at a law firm out of law school and have slowly been moving away from the traditional practice of law.  i work in-house right now but will soon start transitiong to a new job only indirectly related to law.  pm me if you want to talk more about this - i've been where you are before and have lots of ideas.
