I was very upset this weekend on 2 seperat occasions that the movie Brokeback Mountain were brought up.


The first was when DH and I had friends over for dinner, an engaged couple.  I was asking the girl if she was going to see it.  My husband came out with an outburst of "WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT TO SEE THAT MOVIE??  WHAT, DO YOU THINK THAT'S HOT OR SOMETHING?"  He was appauled.  I told him I thought it looked interesting, which I do.  Then he and his friend (the male of the couple) went on to make fun of it and gay guys.  We are friends with gay men, so it's not like he's a homophobe, but the idea of men together is gross to him. Well, I let it go that night but the next night it was brought up again and it was him, my Dad, and my brother and they were all giving me a hard time wanting to see it.  I was fed up so I was like, you know what, I DO think it's kinda hot.  They are both VERY attractive actors and there is something I find sexy about it.  Well this had them squirming in their seats!!!  And I was like, listen, you are so outraged about this but the minute someone mentions 2 women together or a lesbian scene in a movie you are drooling IDIOTS.  As soon as I said that they were all like "we don't want to talk about this anymore.  Yea, I thought so.  Men are such JERKS!!  I was embarassed for all 3 of them and their tiny 1 track minds at that moment!

Tell me about it. I DO think gay sex is hot. Especially with two hotties like Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger. Bring it on! I have the perfect response for men like this. (And it's true.) Studies show that men who are the least comfortable with homosexuality are the most physically turned on by homosexual love scenes. (aka porn but why not nice it up a bit?)

I have some gay friends who keep calling it Bareback Mountain and it cracks me up! I can't wait to see this movie.

I agree with you 100%. While I may not find two men together hot, I can understand how someone can. What I don't get is how men can get away with their disgusting fantasies about two women or a group of women together. I know what you mean about acting like a homophobe because my husband does the same thing and he has no problem with gay men. It really doesn't make sense. It's a movie for crying out loud, grow up.

i actually thought that this was the name of the movie for the longest time. i just keep getting images of studio execs sitting around thier glass topped conference table drinking soy lattes and being so proud of themselves for coming up with this name for a movie about gay cowboys. i mean, really, bareback gay cowboys, it's gotta be the biggest cliche ever. i think i saw this at the porn shop the other day. no, not really, i don't go to porn shops.

Guys just don't get it. They think lesbians are hot because they think girls are hot, so girls together equals SUPER hot. They don't see how women think guys are hot, so two guys can be hot too.

I also don't get why guys have to be so squirmy. If there are two girls doing something sexual it doesn't get me squirmy. It's not like they are directly doing sexual things to me, so there's not reason to be weird about it. When guys see gay guys, they almost react as if another guy is trying to get with them. Dude, it's just a movie!
