I heard about this shelter on the radio this morning. I think it is somewhere in New York. Huntington maybe? I just wanted to raise awareness for any animal lovers out there. What's so great about this shelter is that it does not euthanize the animals brought into it. They currently have 30 dogs for adoption and 250 cats and kittens. If you don't want to adopt an animal you can sponsor one, which means you donate money to a particular dog to make sure it gets the food it needs, so even if you don't live in the NY or NJ area you can still help. A lot of the animals up for adoptions were those that were rescued from Hurricane Katrina.
I just read on their website that they are in desperate need of cat and dog food. They've run completely out due to the time of year and the animals in need. I know many of us on here are animal lovers and are always looking for ways to help, so I thought I'd post to let everyone know that this place is out there.
I think what this shelter does is great, here's the site:

I know, I felt so bad that I HAD to make a donation. I used Paypal, it was so easy to do too! I wasn't able to donate too much, but I imagine that every little bit helps!
Thanks for posting this. That little black dog on the home page made me cry. I hate thinking about animals who are mistreated or in need and I really appreciate the work that shelters do, espcially no kill ones.
