The tote I want to get would be black on black monogram with a tan stripe.
Can someone either tell me Yes I need this or No get something cheaper... I want to use this as my bag for school to carry notebooks and such in. Im so sick of carrying around a crappy bag to school, because its the only one big enough. I want something classy but realistic to use as school bag. I have been searching for months and can not find anything!! Yet can't justify a girl in grad school buying this??
Ive been going back and forth all day... I guess the bottom line is, I am willing to spend the cash for it (it would basically take up most of my funds from xmas), if I will get use out of it year after year, and into when I am out of school... Im thinking that I would be better off with a classic leather tote bag? Please help... it keeps playing on my mind.

It is really nice (of course), but I would be concerned with getting the canvas all dirty while lugging it around. If used as a large handbag it wouldn't get as dirty as a bookbag, I think. I wouldn't want to wreck "my baby."

I came, I saw, I did a little shopping.
I have a large brown leather Coach tote kind of like this one but darker. (I couldn't find the exact one but I can take a picture later if you want.) I really like the size of it and it's big enough for a notebook and maybe a book, but I use it for a notebook and pencil case and water bottle and a scarf and mittens sometimes and it holds a lot! Oh, and I got it at a Coach outlet so it was $200 instead of however much it regularly cost.
I love all the coach totes, but unfortunately, everyone in my class has them, and I wanted something different..

i like the idea of tote as bookbag. in fact, the coolest girl in my whole class (of sixty people) carries that exact bag for her books. now, mind you, she only ever walks at most one block to class because the grad dorms are next to the hospital where we have classes so she doesn't carry a lot every. are you one to carry books and not just notebooks? im just asking because sometimes it's a little straining on your back to carry a tote all lugged down and heavy, especially if you have to walk more than a couple blocks. if not...i love the tote as bag look, especially the one you picked out.

Thanks for responding to my pathetic plea for posts :) I would just be carrying notebooks, so seems like this should be ok.... Just hoping it is a mature, classic looking bag that will last me many years after I graduate pharmacy school

a friend of mine has the coach bag that looks like yours (similar to the first one posted by JacL. She complained that when she puts her laptop inside it bulges at the bottom, and it doesn't look so nice anymore, so you might want to think if you need to carry a laptop and/or heavy books/notebooks before buying that kind of bag. I think more structured bags, like the leather ones JacL posted, give you more hold and look better after a while you have used them. just my opinion, hth
I used my Kobba Sienna for my last semester of grad school and it was fine. I think since the bags are such good quality, they really hold up well so you should go for it! That's a really classy bag too- I love it!
Oh, and in my Kooba I usually carried my laptop, a notebook, and sometimes a small book (along with all my regular purse stuff), so I think you'll be good with a few notebooks!
I like that Gucci, and I was actually looking for that bag myself, a while back. I also looked at the Burberry, which I think were a little cheaper, but I think they are just as classic.

i have the same Coach tote at Shello only in Black. I got mine at the Coach outlet at Jeffersonville outlets (just a short drive down 71 towards Cincinnati!) for $130. I use it for work and it is fantastic. I can carry my laptop, a leather binder for notetaking and an expandable fabric file holder. Also, my palm pilot and digital camera fits nicely as well.
I understand what you mean about every girl having a Coach tote. That was so the case where I went to school. A lot of girls were even carrying MJ Stellas around. If you want a super-classy bag you'll wear forever that isn't logo-intesive...Ferragamo may be the way to go.
I have to admit I'm not terribly into the Gucci logo print and never have been, but the shape is a good one.
