Yeah Zappos is usually not the cheapest place to get shoes. I always do an internet search before I buy from zappos to make sure the shoe isn't way cheaper somewhere else.
i feel like this is an extreme instance. zappos is usually higher than other places, but you don't pay shipping and they are super efficient and easy to deal wiht. i assume the higher prices are to cover shipping costs. so if i find a pair of shoes at store x.com for 50.00 plus 10.00 shipping = 60.00 and the zappos price is 61.95 i pick zappos. the shoes will be there super quickly and their returns are really easy.

I had a similar experience (found shoes MUCH cheaper elsewhere) and Zappos met the price of the other store. They even called me personally to make sure I was happy with their service!
I don't think Zappos price gouges - probably its just the list price plus a bit to cover shipping. Thats awesome they price match, I'll have to try that in the future.
I agree with you all that Zappos is SUPER efficient and love the free shipping. I too buy shoes there even if they might be $10 more than ABC store or whatever. However, I think a $70+ difference IS price gouging. I was going to purchase these for one of my BFFs, but not at $120. That's just ludicrous.
jessallen - thanks for your response. I'm going to call them and see what kind of CS I get. Tis the season to be jolly and all that ...
**update**
Just got off the phone with a Zappos rep. They are not going to price match or even come down at all. "Different stores have different prices" is what I was told. What a bitch. jessallen -- I must not be as sweet as you or something. LOL i wasn't rude at all. I merely told her about the Nordie's sale price and its original listing price of $69. She didn't care to hear about that. Thus, my boycott of Zappos begins ... it won't make a difference because after all, they are the largest seller of shoes on the web, but I have my principles.

Hmm, that's weird cause I copied and pasted this from the website. Did Nordie's not have the right size, Misty? If Nordie's online didn't, I would call around to find them in a b&m Nordstrom and call Zappos back.
If you find a shoe for a lower price on another web site or in a shoe store, we will refund you 110% of the difference between the lower price and our price. We'll even refund the difference if we lower the price at Zappos.com!
Here's how it works:
- The shoe must be currently available in the same style, size, and color that is on Zappos.com.
- If a web site, it cannot be an auction site.
- If a store, it must be a legitimate store located in the United States.
- Taxes (if any) and shipping charges (if applicable) will be included when calculating the price difference.
Here are the three easy steps to receive your refund:
Order the shoe that you want from Zappos.com.
Please call us at 1-800-ZAPPOS-1 (1-800-927-7671) or 702-943-7677 with your order number, and either the URL of the site where you found the shoe (and directions of how to find the shoe), or the name and phone number of the store where you found the shoe.
We will verify the information, give you a discount equal to 110% of the difference, and email you with your new total.
Please note that this offer is valid for 10 days after you make your purchase.
