I admit it...I love the look of tights with strappy heels and wedges.  (When it's done right, of course!)   How many of you can ACTUALLY wear this look in the winter time?  If you do, do you live in an area with a lot of snow?  I'm afraid I won't make it past the driveway!

When I worked, I did this look constantly throughout the winter.  It was actually the best option for me when we got lots of snow - I'd throw my shoes in my bag and wear high winter boots over my tights for the commute - no dealing with tucking or cuffing pants!

I'm just now getting into tights (textured ones), and they are VERY WARM, esp. on cold days. I too live in Texas (Austin), and we have quite a few COLD days here lately, and I'll break out my tights! Ahhhhh!!

I've been doing it at long as its not super snowy or super cold! (I have to wait for the bus for about 10 minutes and would freeze my butt off some days!)

I'm from NYC and I've done this for my entire life. Like Elle, I find that skirt+tights+boots is the best option in rain or snow. I also sometimes think wearing heavy tights provides more protection from the cold than some of my pants do. If it's really windy the cold air goes right up my pants legs! If it's horrifically cold and I have to do more walking than usual I layer two pairs of tights.

Ive always loved the look of tights in the winter, but have never really worn this look.  But I want to start, and was thinking of buying some outfits this xmas season so when I go back to school in Jan, I can start sporting this look.  Also, I am in pharmacy school where everyone dresses super casual.. .will i look stupid always dressing up?  Is this unrealistic?  And also, I dont have a huge budget so How could I wear skirts and tights without looking like im wearing the same thing?  And what type of shoes do you wear with skirts and tights?  I feel like wearing my cute black boots would be too dressy for school??

I've always been into tights and I'm not a pants person, so skirts, fun tights, and heels or boots have always been my go to look in winter.  It doesn't really snow here tho.

I wore brown tights with bronze wedges and a skirt on Tuesday, but I live in Cal and I'm indoors at work anyway, so I don't have to deal with the elements.

I wear tights and heels but it rarely gets below 30 F even in the mornings here (Louisiana).

I'm just starting to figure out how to do this.  Growing up in CA, I HATED tights and never wore them, and now I'm finding reason to.  Usually when it's really cold though, I just wear pants, so it's hard to break out of the habit and wear tights and a skirt.  Hmmm....maybe I'll do that tomorrow though.

i completely agree with CC's statement.  i find tights+boots+skirt combo in the winter time is extremely cozy and definitely more warm!

No you will not look stpuid in fact I think it is refreshing when someone else in the class or work enviroment dresses up. On the shoes, you can do pumps, t-straps(my fav)even wedges and of course boots, I bet you will super cute.Just change out the shoes and shirt  if you wear the the same skirt or pants in the same week. HTH

nope. sadly for me this is a fall look. When it gets to be -10 degrees F most days with 2 feet of snow, heels are just not a practical look unfortunately.

I wore tights with plaid, cropped pants and maryjanes today! It doesn't get very cold here, though. I don't wear tights often, because they make my legs itchy.

i'm with cc and bex.  i live near nyc and walk everywhere (cars are foreign objects to me). i won't wear heels while the snow is actually falling. but once it stops, and the sidewalks clear up some i have no problem with the look.

Yes I agree w/ cc/bex/honey - I grew up in STL and find that tights are the warmest thing you can wear in the winter.  Even if I wear pants I wear tights or knee-high socks underneath (bare legs and pants - brrrr!).  But I also find that warm tights and a skirt with heels is warmer than pants and shoes...and I love heels!

I wear tights once it hits 50 degrees for the morning lows. Since I'm in Los Angeles, it doesn't get cold enough very often to really wear tights. There's no snow, so heels are always an option for me. When it's cold, I too find good tights and a skirt are much warmer than 95% of pants. I wear skirts and boots when it rains because I stay warmer. I wore tights with dress shoes when I was in HS as part of my uniform...I found it to be quite warm, especially if I double-layered them for the 15 degree mornings.

"Strappy" heels - I don't really do tights with strappy shoes. I do wear them with boots, of course, and pumps, and peep-toes. I agree with the girls who say it can be warmer than pants, though most of my pants are wide-leg and I can easily put tights under those.

I live in Georgia (in a suburb of Atlanta) and while it can get cold here, we don't get much snow. So I can wear tights from the time it cools down (which was late this year - November!) pretty much through mid-April in most cases.
