Has anyone ever had this done? I'm thinking about buying the stuff and doing it myself because it's not offered around here but I'd like to hear if anyone had ever done it first!

I have!  I got mine at Sally Beauty Supply - worked pretty well.  I got a clear one, and afterwards my hair had the same texture as right after I've colored it (shiny, manageable).

Mine was a clear gloss (you can get tinted ones, too though) - I think I remember it being called Cellophane?  It's like a clear/tinted haircolor, so you can get the benefits of coloring your hair without having to change the color too much or at all.  Anyway, it seals your hair cuticle and makes it look really shiny and healthy.

Does it make your hair flat?  And if you have some ffrizzy fly aways around your face, does it get rid of those?

It's half coloured or clear gloss solution, (I want clear) and half processing solution. It's meant to make your hair shiny, and the colour is an all over wash type thing, meant to give your hair a coloured tone.

Btw, I read an article in WWD about a month ago that said that John Frieda is coming out with a "hair glossing" products like that will be tinted for different hair colors. I've never had this done, so I'm excited about trying it at home when these come out.

Elle, was Cellophane the brand you used or the color? Is there a particular brand you like or are they all pretty much the same? I color my hair and don't think I'd like to add any more tint to it, but the glossing effect would be nice! TIA!

Sebastian used to have a product that did this... i can't remember the name- but the best one to get is the clear one... it gives you really supa shiny hair...

I had this done in the salon about two months ago. I LOVE the results! It made my hair so soft and shiny, but yet not unmanageable - my hair is thin, so often "soft" means "won't do anything" as I am always going for volume. The gloss was mixed in with my haircolor, and I got *so* many compliments...now I will be doing this every time I have my hair colored.

glossings are nice, but they are demi-permanent ("4-6 weeks" but i really think like 2-3, if you are someone who washes their hair every day)...so keep that in mind. no ammonia/peroxide so they don't damage your hair. esp nice after having hair colored, and they help "seal" the color.

i don't think the clear gives as much shine as colored glossings.

Erin is right - that's what I'm finding after this last color - usually I can go 3 mos. before coloring again, but the shine is mostly gone now (coming up on 60 days from when I had this done) and I'll probably want to do it again relatively soon.
