I need major help on what to get my 15-year-old sister for Christmas. She is nothing like me! She doesn't care about makeup, jewelry, or clothes and likes video and computer games. She is really into Inuyasha right now, which is some Japanese anime crap, I think they show it on Comedy Central's adult swim. I am at such a loss. She has an iPod so I was thinking a case for that but then I found out she rarely uses it (also not into music very much). I was thinking maybe something cool for her bedroom, like a lava light maybe, only not that because she already has one. Maybe a cool phone? I don't know!
I also have a very low budget--no more than $30 preferably (honestly, she gets whatever she wants from our parents or with her own money so really I just have to get her something just for the sake of giving her a gift).
We have a 16 y/o niece who lives in Colorado (and we live in Atlanta) and we haven't seen the family in about two years. Her mother is zero help for gift ideas...but I was at Nordie's on Monday, buying some small silver earrings in the junior's dept (for our step-niece, whom I've never met) and this woman was there with her daughters. I asked her how old her girls were, and she said 14 and 16, and I asked her what they're really into - she said teens in general are into music (of course), and then she said that they LOVE to have some money burning in their pocket for shopping. So she suggested a mall or Amex gift card. So that's going to be part of our niece's gift. Maybe your sister would like that as well?

Karina, that was definately an idea, but I would have to ask my mom which ones, if any, she has.
Atlgirl, that is what my mom suggested because my sister loves to go shopping (at Best Buy--what a dork :), but it just sounded boring to me. That is definately going to be my fallback in case I don't think of anything else though.
What about a gift certificate to a gaming store?? Is there a chain video game store in your area that would also be in her area?? Or rental certificates for video games? And do you think I could have her I-Pod sense she never uses it?

Sage, that is so funny! I was actually trying to weasel the iPod from her but she wouldn't give it up. I think she just likes gadgets. But I think you have the best idea so far--why couldn't I think of that?!
My sister sounds just like yours... and she's 22! My sister is really into that whole anime stuff and I don't know what I'm getting for her either but how about some manga books, or a subscription to some Japanese anime magazine? There are lots of anime conventions in the states so maybe you can score her a convention pass to go visit one? You can also get some dvds or cds too.
If you have any more questions, I'd be willing to help.
I like the idea of a journal. Plus include these Staedtler pens:
I got mine from Office Depot. They are very fine tip markers. I love them, and use them for cards and crafts. What kind of teen girl doesn't like scribbling in a journal?
