I can't wait to see it! It was one of my favorite books as a kid, so I'm super excited for the movie... maybe Sunday!!

I'm glad to hear that! Did it only follow the one book? I was just wondering how in the world they made a 107 page book into a movie that was over 2 hours. I was thinking that they threw in some of the first book, which was how the wardrobe was made & how they opened the door to Narnia? I got the book that has all 7 stories in it & I really love it. I never read it as a kid.

I loved the Chronicals when I was a kid and I was sort of disappointed in the movie. I didn't dislike it or anything, but I think it moved very slowly and I think that some of the imagery was a little heavy (specificially the scene where Aslan was bound a killed) for a movie that's geared and marketed toward children. Overall it was ok though, I'm still looking forward to the next movie.

Really? I mean, it was a very moving scene, but I think they did a pretty good job of finding the balance between the adult audience and the kids. I actually thought it was a much more difficult scene to read from the book.

And Laken, it only followed the second book. I actually need to go back and read the first one (I know bad, I started with the second book, hehe).

I thought the movie was great. They changed very little and kept the overall feel of the book. I thought all the magical creatures they created were amazing... So cute.

I also thought Lucy was adorable and did a great job in the role.

FP, I agree that they did find a good balance between the adult audience and the kids. I guess part of the reason I said that was because there was a young girl (she was maybe 4 or 5) sitting in the row in front of us and she hid her eyes during the whole Aslan scene and I could tell that she was very bothered by it. However, I think the movie is mostly for older kids and it probably really didn't bother them that much. As a child, I think I probably would have been very bothered by it, but I've always been very sensitive :)

Actually, C.S. Lewis wrote The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe first, so a lot of people think it should be read first. It's quite the controversy.

im finally done with this quarter so im gonna go see this movie soon!!! i can't wait because i loved this book as a child and actually went and bought the big book about two years ago so i could reread it. i about flipped out when i found out they were doing a movie.

all you other book readers....did you pick up on the christianity thing when reading it? i totally never saw it when i read it (either time) and was flommoxed when all the movie reviews talk about cs lewis and his christian views in the book. am i just the biggest idiot ever or did others not notice it either?

I always knew about this when I read the book as a child. But that's probably b/c I went to a religious elementary school. I really loved this book. It was one of my favorites as a kid. And my elementary school actually did the play once! I can't wait to see the movie.

my school pointed it out to me too. I read it in 7th grade honours english class.

i really liked the movie esp. lucy. what a fantastic little actress she is!
