Skipping workouts question...
Permalink Closed

Because of my back being sort of spasm-y right now, it's pretty much killed any ability to workout so far this week.  I've only missed one day so far, but if it's like this tomorrow too, I'll have to skip that one as well.

My question is:  If I am skipping these workouts (hopefully this week only), will I actually gain any weight if I'm keeping my food intake low calorie, low fat?  I feel so dang lazy, but my back just won't let me do much of anything beyond normal, everyday walking

Well, you should be skipping 1-2 days a week so it's fine!

Whoops, I should've specified that I usually only workout 3 days a week and I've already skipped one so far   There's a good chance I won't be doing any this week if my back muscle doesn't stop being constricted...

If you cannot work out for awhile you may lose muscle tone depending upon how long it goes on, but I don't think you'll gain weight if you are careful with eating.

I doubt much would change in two weeks.

However - don't try to work out until you back is ok!  You don't want to injure it even worse!  (sorry about the lecture!)

Okay, that's good at least!   I'm just going to watch what I'm eating and do whatever toning I can do that doesn't involve my back.

No worries about the "lecture"   I don't want to hurt myself any further either, so I'll just do what I can and not worry about anything else until I'm fully healed

It takes about 7 days for the muscles to start weakening when you don't work out.  As long as you aren't gorging yourself, you won't gain weight, especially because its only a couple days.
