The sweater Mena Suvari is wearing on page 101 of the Jan Lucky is SO great looking and the same sweater on Girlshop looks, uh, kind of weird and bobbly and not worth anything like $395? I don't have a pic from Lucky but here it is on Girlshop:
Wtf? I am totally confused by this. I saw it on Mena and thought "that is the sweater I will buy myself for Xmas" and then I went to Girlshop and saw what it was. The colour and texture and thickness of the knit look so different than in the mag.
Btw, I have one of the waffle knit shirts from the Sean John line and it is surprisingly good quality (I never would have tried this line myself, the shirt was a gift).

Well, haven't received my December issue, much less January issue, of Lucky so I can't reference the magazine.
However, I agree that the sweater looks "bobbly" on the model, esp. the gray on white. The white does look cuter, but the hood is up... I wouldn't say it's worth $395.
I know, I know, I loved the clothes on Mena (and will be taking the pic of her in the grey tank and necklace to the stylist when I get my hair cut next).

Hmm... from comparing the two sweaters, it's hard to believe that the sweater from Girlshop is the same sweater Mena Suvari is wearing. The texture looks sooo different! I think Mena is wearing a different color. It looks like a dark navy/black. Maybe wearing it unbuttoned makes it look that much cuter???
I (of course) neurotically called Girlshop and they said it's the same sweater and colour Mena is wearing. It looks grey on Girlshop and black in the mag. The bobbles are hardly noticeable in the mag, too, and I am NOT into them. I could get it and return it if it ended up being weird. It's just so much and I only have enough $ to buy myself one expensive item right now. Damnit, Girlshop!

Well, the outfit they put together on the shopbop girl is ho hum. I definintly like Mena's style. And the corset top she is wearing with the sweater is so cute! Also, the Jimmy Choo bag on the previous page is damn fabulous! I wish I could have it.
i don't think that the white looks super bobbly- the grey does i think because maybe its too big on the model? it looks like its making her chest look super huge- even though i'm sure it isn't. i think unbuttoned it would be cuter, on a waifish/slim girl.
I agree with the bobbly wobbly bits, but it looks so good on Mena! I'm thinking the darker color must hide the balls better. They must have a mega flash for the pale gray on the model to be what I assumed was a sexy navy color
Despite the slim jim appearance, I liked what was put in the magazine too. I even liked the casual rocker girl outfit Mena is wearing in the last shot.
Yeah I think the lighting is a big thing - major flash used in the Girlshop pic. I still don't know, I think I'll wait and see if Girlshop has a code anytime soon. Thanks for the help!
