I am going to do some research on pet insurance but just though I would check with you guys too to see if any of you are familiar with how it works...

I've heard mixed reviews of pet insurance.  I know people who have it and are very glad that they do.  However, I looked into it and decided that it wasn't for me.  We have 4 pets and it was actually pretty expensive to insure all of them, plus it does not cover as many procedures as I would have liked. Unfortunately, I don't remember the exact details, it was about 4 years ago that I looked for insurance.

We decided that it was financially reasonable for us to put a little money each month into a "pet emergency" fund, and to make sure we have enough room on our credit card to pay for a major surgery or long term vet stay.

when my dot got sick, i did a lot of research on various pet insurances and coverage plans. basically, overall i felt like the coverage wasn't worth it. you paid anywhere from $20-45 a month for your pet but got very little coverage (most only cover well visits and help with medication). most surgerys were not covered and things like chemo definitely were not in the cards.

my bf and i (who own two cats) decided it was better just to put away a little money each month for any future emergencies.
