She had her 2nd surgery today. The vet took out a HUGE chunk of her side, and she now has about a 4-inch scar with about 10 staples in it. She is groggy and hurting, but she seems OK. I talked to the vet, and she says she feels strongly that this will be it. She said there's no need for chemo right now, and in fact it might do more harm than good. After her stitches heal, we will have to check her pretty much every couple of days to make sure no lumps appear (which would signal a relapse), and if any do come up, they will need to be removed immediately and other treatments considered.
Thank you guys SO much for your advice, your thoughts, your prayers and for keeping me distracted. I know it probably seems silly to non-dog owners, but this has been a hard time for my husband and me. I love stylethread.

iam keeping you in my prayers thanks for the update, i know what you mean @ the non- dog owners or even non-animal owners sometime I hear them say i cant believe you would spend all that money on a pet, it is just a animal - this burns my butt-
Oh Halleybird, I just read all the Halley posts-I didn't realize that's why you were at the vet today-I'm glad the vet thinks she'll be okay-I totally feel for you - our dog is like our child (and we even have 2 kids!) Thanks for the update.
Good to hear! I thought of Halley all day today because I remembered you saying that she had to go in today. I was hoping to hear something positive too (seeing as Mikey is still out there somewhere). I hope that Halley continues to do well. I pray for a full recovery.
