Make them go away!!
Permalink Closed

For the past month, i have been getting breakouts.  My face has been clear for the past 4 years (with the exception of a zit or two around that time of the month). I now have zits on the edges of my nose and on my face right next to my nose. They are small red bumps that sometimes get a small whitehead at the end of it (which i then pop), but they never get any bigger. They dont hurt, but they stay red and dont seem to ever go away. When i touch my face i can feel like 10 little bumps on it and i dont know how to make them go away! New ones keep popping up as well.  My derm put me on doryx (doxycycline) but it didnt help and i think made it worse so i stopped taking it. I also use Purpose facial cleanswer but that doesn't seem to be doing wonders either. What can i do to make these zits go away! Its so annoying....my face has been clear for so long and all of a sudden, i have all these little zits! Any ideas to help me would be great! Thanks ladies!

Have you changed anything recently?  Diet?  Face/Hair products?  Sleep?  Stress?  Hand lotion/nail polish?  Do you exfoliate on a regular basis?

Stress makes me break out like this too. Mine started as whiteheads, then, I think because I popped them, became huge cysts that lasted for weeks at a time. So I think you shouldn't pop them, just exfoliate like crazy. Oh, and switching to a lighter moisturizer helped too. And once a week or every couple days, I spread a salyic acid product on my face, leave it for 10 minutes, then rinse. Seriously, seriously seriously, though, don't pop them, no matter how tempting it is. It will make it so much worse.

Try using a mask a couple of times a week - it always helps calm my skin down.  I usually put on a clay mask and take it off with a wash cloth and very warm water, immediately followed by either moisturizer or acne treatment.

HTH!

The small red bumbs sound like irritation and the whiteheads are clogged pores. (Not that I am a dermo, but I have been fighting acne for years).

when I start to break out I like to use a clay mask.  I really like Proactiv's sulfur mask. Sulfur is an antiseptic so it kills the bacteria.

Depending on what kind of skin you have, I would switch to a milder cleanser.  Purpose is mild, but I have never had luck with it.  If you have dry skin, use cetaphil if you have oilier skin, use Neutrogena Extra gentle face cleanser- in the bar (it washes away better).  At night I use a calming moisturizer (good skin calming moisturizer at kohls).
