my office has a party friday night at a boutique hotel downtown. it's cocktail, so the ladies will be wearing cocktail dresses and the men will be in suits. last year i wore a black velvet tuxedo type suit with a pink silk camisole with gold dots underneath.
i was planning to wear this dress:
with some black crochet tights, black high boots, and some long flapper-ish jet-bead necklaces. is this too dressy and/or revealing for an office party? i could wear a black velvet blazer over the dress to cover it up a bit, if that would help.
i also have this dress...would it be better? same setup (boots, tights, long necklace of some kind):
it's def. more conservative.
or thirdly, there's this option:
i could maybe wear it with a black velvet tulip-style skirt i have, or a black bubble skirt, a magenta silk strappy heels.
please give opinions! i want to be cool but not too out-there, and comfortable. thanks.
That first dress is soooooo awesome! As long as the straps aren't too long on you, I don't think it's too revealing for a work party. Though I personally think knee high boots make the outfit sexier than pumps would - have you tried it on with pumps to see how that looks?

I agree with this. If you're worried about it being too sexy it might be best to wear some sort of pump. If you're still uncomfortable, I think the blazer would look great too.
You definitely have to wear the first dress! It is so perfect! I love it

i hadn't considered that the boots made it more sexy--i thought because it was more covered up, that = more conservative. what kind of pumps? the black ones i have are: pointed-toe slingbacks or peep-toe 40s-style heels. i don't really have any plain black pumps. do you think i need to go buy some?
ps--i've been looking for an excuse to buy these:
would they be too over-the-top with this dress? what about if i did the marni-esque thing with black tights with them?
I would try the dress/crochet tights/pumps on (if you haven't already done so) to see how it looks together. If it just doesn't go, I'd head over to Target/Kohl's/Walmart to find a pair of textured tights that fit the bill.

I love the last top and would vote for that but I am having trouble picturing it with a skirt for some reason so I can't give any advise on what to pair it with.
I don't think the Stella dress seems too sexy at all (at least not on the mannequin) and I tend to have the same train of thought as you do about boots unless the boots have a really high stiletto heel. However, I think it would look really cute with textured tights and pumps and that will help cut down on the sex factor.
I really like the pink Stella dress, you're lucky to have it. I think it could work with either boots or pumps. I also love that Anna Sui top too. IMO, you can't go wrong with either outfit.
