Crazy laundry room woman
Permalink Closed

Hi guys!

This is totally random, but it just happened and it stressed me out, so I figured I'd vent on here. I just went into the laundry room to put in some laundry. None of the washers was on (there are three), but two had DRY stuff in them. I used the free one and then went back to my apt. to get another load. The dry stuff was still there when I got back to the laundry room, and no one had come to start the washers. So I took the stuff out and put mine in. A few minutes later, this woman comes in and yells "Did you take my stuff out of the washer?" I said "Yes, I did. I apologize, but I had no idea how long it had been in there. Sometimes people forget their stuff and don't get it for hours." Which is true. She started saying, "Well I never do that!" (like I'm supposed to know) and yelling about how rude I am, etc. etc. So I just ran out of there. Now I'm afraid to go back and get my laundry to put in the dryer because I'm afraid that a) She did something crazy like poured bleach all over my laundry, or b) she will be in there again and start cussing me out again. What a psycho bitch!!

it sounds like she was trying to set someone up so she could attack them. some people thrive on chaos - you just happened to be the victim. I would be surprised if she was watching the whole time.  people can be freaks - and it's weird how they focus on shared laundry rooms if it's an apartment situation. I would still do my laundry and if she attacks you again, contact building management and have them post some rules including that laundry left unattended when the machine is not running is left at their own risk.

Eek!  I'd be scared too.  She probably won't do anything, but I would probably find someone to walk back down there with me if I were you.

That's awful!  I hope everything works out when you go down to pick up your laundry.  She was out of line.  It sounds like you gave her more than enough time to get her laundry out of there and you were still really nice when she attacked you for doing that.

Yeah, I agree that she was probably watching since she just happened to come down after you took her stuff out.  If there isn't rules posted I would talk to management.  They should have a sign that says if the washer or dryer isn't running, and you have stuff in it, anybody is free to remove the stuff so they may use the machine.

Our laundry room has a sign posted that says you are allowed to remove laundry from the dryer if no one has taken it out and it's in your way...

I can relate - the maintenance man in my building is psycho and yells at me every time I do my laundry ("Are you STILL doing laundry?"  "You're so damn loud, you're disturbing the neighbors when you come down here!" etc.).  I make my fiance go down with me b/c I'm scared of him.  We're getting him kicked out, actually, but that's another story.

Here's an update - As I was going to get my stuff to put it in the dryer (hoping I'd beat her there), she passed me in the hall and muttered "I put your stuff in your basket." I had timed it so I would be there within a minute of when my load was done to get it out, and the fact that she was there ahead of me means that she must have been standing there waiting for it to finish so she could toss my wet stuff out and put hers in to "get me back." What a psycho!

What's even scarier is that this is the nicest place I've lived in 8 years of apartment living. I thought I'd be among a classier group, but apparently that isn't the case.

Don't you just love aparment living? We didn't have a washer in the apartment before this one so we would do laundry in the complex laundromat.  That ended soon after someone took MY clothes out of the washer (I used to time it too, apparently they got there way ahead of me) anyway, they put my clothes on top of the washing machine so once I dried my clothes and went back to my apartment, I realized whoever it was had taken all of the bras (3) that had been in that load.  How sick is that??

We waited for our lease to come up and got into a place with a washer in it.  Try to stay away from the psycho bitch in the future
