I went vintage shopping over the weekend and found my best purchase so far! This amazing Cream and Greenish-Gold Threaded Poncho....just in time for winter!! :o)
Does anyone else have a vintage addiction and if so...any pics?
that is GORGEOUS! i don't have the patience to shop vintage all that often, but i do have a few fave pieces. i have a few little clutch handbags that were my grandmother's that i carry all the time, and a black 70s sweater with bell-sleeves and little bright-colored flowers embroidered on it that looks very marcia brady.
oh my stars- that looks adorable on you! also- is that a beret? i've been looking for a beret oddly. i think they're kinda cute and i want one for winter =)
my favorite finds..hmm...
i'm actually sorta terrible at vintage. all my vintage is just my mom's clothes. i have a plaid shirt i adore though its so old i'm scared it will fall apart one day =( and my mom has some cute sweaters but they're all so short! i love vintage styles but often don't like the fabrics they are made from =/ i'm gonna have to do a better job at it though- because vintage clothing can be so cool and unique. things i like:
this is my favorite shirt above. the plaid is red/teal/navy and the buttons are red.
my mom's too- it is very snow bunny but so short!
not super vintage- but my old school orioles tee! =)
hahaha- oh i forgot to add my favorite vintage find of all time-
I found sweater at a church sale (benefit for Katrina victims) for $2 - I haven't worn it yet - maybe tomorrow! I just love that it's obviously handmade.
But this is still my fav - a lace bed jacket. I finally found a brooch that I like so I'm going to cut off the ties off - I just don't like the way it looks tied & it comes untied constantly. Here is the brooch I'm going to use to fasten it.

I loooove vintage. I think it's great that you're into it too, because I really like your style. I am generally really into antiques - and I do have a jewelry armoire filled with vintage jewelry (I think you've seen some of my vintage pieces in my thread style posts). I have a gray wool cropped 3/4 sleeve with light brown fur collar jacket I wore the other day over a gray cashmere turtle neck, cropped/cuffed wool plaid olive/gray/brown pants, these boots
with vintage chocolate brown leather opera gloves. oh and I wore an olive green ombre woven fur scarf with it too.
I'm also really into copper - I like to wear vintage copper necklaces wrapped around my wrist as a bracelet or cuff... I like the unusual - the stuff that no one else wants to buy... I have several vintage bags too... more coats/jackets... lots of gloves... a couple of hats... I'll try to post vintage more often

I love vintage assessories. Most of my pieces are items that I got when my Grandmother died. Someday I'll take photos...
My most recent find is these Anne Klein python pumps. My friend who knows all about vintage shoes think they are probably from the period when Donna Karan was designing the Anne Klein line.
Vintage is my weakness. I usually have something vintage about my outfit everyday. Today i'm wearing a vintage pencil skirt that i rehabbed with new buttons and a updated hem.
I cannot put my finger on a favorite because i have so many. I posted a couple of finds that i love.
I found this dress for $5 about five years ago. I bought it before Marc Jacobs put out a similar retro line and i was always getting stopped asking if it was from his line. It is even cuter in person.
This vintage 70's sweater i bought for $5 also about seven years ago. It too is prettier in person. Obviously, its a asian inspired sweater with a mandarin collar, bell sleaves and gorgeous embroidery on the sleeves and along the from hem. I wore it to a champagne tasting the other night and got tons of compliments.
I also like these vintage lucite wedges. I bought them from an estate sale for $3. They are just fun!
Vintage "finds" are harder to come by because of on-line auctions such as ebay. You really have to hunt these days.
Lynnie- I love that dress too! It's SO 80's but it's so beautiful on! Unfortunately I don't have too many places to wear it so I've only worn it twice! I LOVE your "snowbunny" look!
Laken1- Your $2 sweater is SO gorgeous! I love when I find handmade pieces like that!
Detroit- It's funny you should mention copper. It's not a metal that you see mainstream but I've also really been into it. I bought a vintage jacket with copper harware, got inspired, and I'm doing a line of jewelry for next fall with copper metal. Not sure if it will go over well but I'm hoping!!
Luckylily- I LOVE your pumps!!! The deco feel is great!
sunshinegirl- your blue dress is just amazing and fits you to perfection! As far as it being hard to find vintage items...I agree! I'm really lucky in the fact that we have some amazing places here in my hometown. There is enough of an appreciation for it here but it's not mainstream in the area. Because of that, I find things ALL the time.
Erin- I love all your vintage stuff when you post in thread style! Those shoes are amazing but you MUST wear them!!! Unless you use them as decoration and disply on a shelf!
Here are a few more of my things!
This is too much fun to wear! I get the funny looks when I wear it but really don't care! ha
Actually just gave this to a friend- fits her much better!
My favorite handbag- not SO vintage- probably from the 80's but I love the color!
Vintage Aviators - 50 cents!
I love this blue clutch- I added a bunch of vintage leaf pins to it!
aw, sooo jealous! Do you guys know of good places in Boston to vintage hunt? I'm new to the area...but you'd think there'd be good places in Cambridge?
GREAT THREAD, I'll have to post my FEW vintage finds when I get home tonight; I just recently (after seeing all yall's cool vintage clothes) started to like vintage, but now I'm trying to find EVERY vintage store there IS here in Austin! And ALL OF YOU ladies have some GREAT vintage stuff, I really like it.

Do yall get these cute things at thrift stores or is there a difference between thrift and vintage? Just wondering cause I can rarely find things that cute at thrift stores.

Yeah, I've gotten most of my vintage from ebay or estate sales.

I know what you mean, I have very little patience for sifting thru crap in hopes of finding one gem. I don't mind paying a little bit more at a store that only carries nice, wearable vintage stuff. Over time I've gotten to know which stores in my area tend to have the good stuff. I hit those a lot more often than I do the large thrift stores. I've also had a lot of success at flea markets.
