When we sent our documents to China in July, it was a 6.5 month wait until referral. But now the CCAA - China Center of Adoption Affairs has just released that the wait is 9-10 months.
So what does this mean for us? We should have gotten our referral (picture and medical records) in February and traveled in April but now it looks like the referral will be April or May and travelling in June or later.
I know this is probably a good thing and we have more time to raise money and spend time together and get settled but we have just waited so long it seems. I am just trying to look at it as a blessing. For those of you that don't know, we started the process in January 2005 and were told it takes about a year so I guess a year and a half isn't too bad.

Aw, I'm sorry you will have to wait longer. But you have the best outlook. Maybe this way you will not feel so rushed to find jobs and relocate. And you will be settled in your new home by the time you bring that sweet thing home.
Keep us updated!

I think I may have told you that I have a friend adopting from China. She and her husband are in China right now! They just picked up their daughter a week ago, and they are flying back at the end of this week. I can't wait to meet their little girl.
Anyway, I know that they were absolutely beside themselves with anticipation while they waited for their referral. Hang in there!
It's happening to everybody who's trying to adopt from China right now - it's not just you . I know someone who's date got pushed back 9 months unfortunately, but no one seems to know why it's happening. I'm so sorry this is dragging on for you! Whatever happens, you will get your baby. It's only a matter of time.
Hang in there Mikacat! We're pulling for 'ya!

I'm sorry to hear about the delay but you're being so optimistic about it and I'm sure it'll end up being for the best. That little girl is so lucky to have you!!
Sorry to hear about the delay, but like others have said, it will allow for more time to prepare and work on the job situation. June will be here soon! Time flies!
oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that. :( With everything that you're going through lately, I'm sure you could use the little bit of extra time though. And June will be here in no time and your little girl will be happy and healthy and and so worth the wait.
I'm sorry to hear that. But as everyone else has said, June is not that far along. Time flies and before you know it you'll be able to see your baby girl. Good luck!
