I am glad I am not the only one! Haha.

My BF knows as well as my mom and a couple friends but none of them would actually log into the forum, or the site for that matter, but they don't think it is weird that I talk to you all on the internet (though my mom was freaked out at first. like I was posting in a chat room and was going to be picked up by a pedophile...umm, even though I am not a kid anymore--go figure). I like the fact that my identity is "hidden" and I can be as open as I want. My BF is so blase' about it that I can actually leave the web page up on the computer and he wont even try to read it--it would be way too boring for him.

I relate to what everyone here has said. Only my DH knows & he does indeed get it because he frequents forums that relate to his interests (maclist, military stuff). But I won't tell anyone else. And I'm forever saying things like "i saw this girl wearing...." when people question me about searching for xx shoes or whatever. And I've started using some people's real names & saying "my friend x" - it's really kinda scary.

i definitely am protective of it.  i told one fashionista girlfriend about it, but she never really bothered to visit the site ... i feel like we have a really close community here, and i'm glad that we are all able to vent to each other, speak about issues that are bothering us and also get fashion tips!  the only thing i feel lately is that the board is not as private, as i felt it once was.

I'm totally protective. Not only because I wouldn't want people I know reading what I post, but I feel like having internet friends would be social suicide. For some reason I'm horribly embarassed to spend so much time talking to people I don't know online.

I 100% agree. If my friends or family knew, they would think I was the biggest computer nerd and make so much funny of me for talking to people I don't know online.

Only my Fiance knows, when I wrote an article last year I just sent to my friends in word and told them that an online magazine asked me to write it.... My fiance makes so much fun of me, but we live together so I can't really hide it. After we got engaged I confessed that I posted on here that I thought it was going to happen that day and when we were going home the next day he asked if I was excited to tell everyone on here that it did happen. I felt like a loser.....:( Although I wouldn't stop coming here though. I am here because none of my friends are into fashion like me, so I must have people to talk to!!!

I can totally relate to all your posts. None of my family or friends know about ST. I was considering telling my boyfriend but I was kinda worried he would lurk on here and read my posts then who would I vent too about him?

Yeah, I am, for the most part.  I know there tends to be stigma with the online friends thing, but the way I view this forum is like I have a bunch of pen pals. I used to have pen pals when I was a kid (real pen and paper pen pals), but now you all are like my electronic pen pals.

It's weird b/c I have no problem with this and have met a few STer's IRL, but I would never, ever do the online dating thing (not that it's not okay for other people, but it weirds me out for myself).  I guess the difference, in my mind, is that you get on an online dating site with the intention of meeting someone IRL, here it just kind of happens without intent.   Does that make sense?

Anyway, that said, I don't go around talking about it or anything.

I'm very secretive about it. It's my thing, with my girls who are special and cool in their own way. I met my BF at an online music forum in 2000, so it doesn't really weird me out about having ST friends become IRL friends and all.

My BF knows that I go on this fashion forum, but he doesn't know that I post in TS. He's actually is mildly annoyed that I spend so much time on ST, but it's because we share one computer at home. He just wants the time for himself so he can go to his comic book fanboy forums!

The rest of my friends and family don't have the slightest clue. Most of them have a heart attack when I tell them what kinds of clothes I buy and how much I am willing to spend.

Yes, the only person who knows is my FI, and now he's thinking it's weird, but b/c something interesting happened...

I was at Nordie's last weekend and saw FashionPrincess - and I recognized her!  She lives 3 hours away and was in town.  I didn't say anything b/c I thought NO WAY that's her, but it was, as I found out later by her when I messaged her.

My FI was like, wait, you saw a girl at the mall that you have never met and have only seen pictures of on the Internet, and she doesn't live in town?  He thought that was the WEIRDEST thing - I said you don't get it - she dresses in a distinct way so she's recognizable. It is weird that we did cross paths though...  Hee hee he's so confused.

I am glad to know that I am not paranoid, someone else feels this way too. I guess b/c there are so many members who never post, it makes me worry about lurkers.

I am protective about ST. I think I told you about not telling my bf's friend's gf about us. I just wasn't sure if she would "get it". And ..ok...maybe I didn't want her to know about all the stuff I talk to you guys about. I keep telling myself to curb what info I talk about but I can't help myself sometimes, I need to get it out and I can't tell my friends about a lot if it. Even though I love them, sometimes I feel like my IRL friends don't "get" me like you guys do.

My mom and bf know about you guys and think its cute. To tease me my mom sometimes calls me BrazenCanadian. Haha, Mom.
